Some say that MMA has evolved since 5 years ago but I don't see any specific techniques that have evolved. We were told in 2005 that in 10 years or so, fighters are not going to be coming from wrestling, judo or kickboxing but rather they will come straight out of MMA.

But so far there are tons of guys who came from a discipline like Usman, Colby and Stephen Thompson. I am curios to know how fighters are getting better and what techniques will we hope to see in the future.

Also whatever happened to the Mohawk brothers? They were suppose to be the future of MMA and that was 2009, they should be in their early 20s now....

Fighters are more well rounded today. Fights are harder to predict because of that.

The movement is different. Fighters had way more of a plodding style than today. Shot selection is different too.

The sport is evolving.

You don't find many 1 dimensional fighters now because you just have to be good in all areas in order to compete at the highest levels.

At the top, it hasn't evolved.

On average, it has.

Think about feints. They were practically nonexistent in 2005. Maybe I exaggerate slightly but you get the point. Today even Askren has feigns and tricks in his standup. Friggin Askren.

And the worst parts of the game (gaming the rules, game planning, weight cutting, ground controlling to win rounds instead of damage opponents) hVe evolved tremendously since TUF.

Probably the most overblown thing about MMA is this supposed "evolution." Training, dieting, and supplementation certainly have, but it's not like the things that won fights in 2006 don't work now.

Would be fair to say that instead of Muay thai, wrestling and BJJ. We are seeing more diverse styles like boxing, judo, taekwondo, karate and other styles?

There is no obvious evolution, as in new techniques that never happened before.
But if you think about it, the bar has been raised, and fans question fighters IQ's now if they don't adapt/read the process.
It's kinda expected to be well-rounded.

Mark Coleman and Randleman were just wrestlers with horrible jiu jitsu and striking. MMA gyms weren't a thing then

Physically athletic and explosive fighters are starting to dominate. Usman, asesanya and ngannou are the new breed.
