Anderson, how in the fuck do people forget Anderson got a title shot after one fight, not saying it's bad, because I mean look at his run, that dude was gonna be champ eventually.
Anderson was offered TWO straight title shots to the WW belt with ZERO fights. UFC 34 (He stalled, and went to Hughes, that was cut from the pomotion at the time) and UFC 36 (Accepted and then balked).

Hendo got to face the champs at MW (AS) and LHW (Rampage) in his first fights in the UFC.

Rampage had one fight in the UFC (Marvin Eastman) before getting a title shot vs Chuck.

Esparza technically got it in her first fight if you don't count TUF. Alvarez needed 2 wins but those 2 wins were split decisions after he got his ass beat by Cerrone. Then like has been mentioned, all the instant Champs like Cruz, Ronda and Aldo.

and didn't that chick Montano win the belt at Fw with out a single fight in the UFC?
All fights being on TUF?

The only reason this Chandler title shot is contentious is because there are so many top contenders in Gaethje, Dustin, Oliveira. And of course the butt hurt Tony fanboys who get mad that Tony fucked himself over but want to blame the UFC.

The whole point of that TUF season was to crown a new champ in a new division though. Kind of different circumstances.

Which in it self was kind of ridiculous with Val being in the UFC.
But you are right it does not really suit the OP and his question.
So I agree with you.

yea, Anderson might not have earned the title shot up front but he sure as hell earned it retroactively.

Technically not, he fought a couple of times in that tournament where he defeated Carlos Newton in the final, in ¿97?

Itll still take a few years for the path of destruction that khabib made for the division to recover. So let anyone fight for the title

I think Shields got a title shot after getting his ass whooped by Martin Kapmann.

And he wasn't even a welter in strikeforce, he was their MW champ. He dropped to WW to duck Anderson and to face GSP the easier match up

TS exposed themselves badly as a casual/noob

Also, context matters. If Khabib was still champ, this wouldn't be happening. It would probably be Khabib/DP 2. But since he retired, this title fight was supposed to be Poirier/Oliveira, but DP wanted the 3rd money fight with Conor instead (don't blame him one bit for that). Gaethje just fought for the title and lost, so he also wasn't going to get it
