I see a lot of threads on fighters are not getting paid fairly, what exactly is your definition for fair fighter pay?

Make fights to the death but the winner gets a huge purse.

As long as they have the labor and negotiation rights that are legally provided to every worker of the relevant country then nothing else. Do they?

Usually 40-50% of net profit, where they only receive on average like 15-20%. UFC has also been flooding its roster with contender series cans rather than paying out to legitimate international prospects.
What do you mean usually? This isn’t NBA or NFL. Is that what it is in boxing? That’s the closest comparison.

So with this extra revenue do you think they would raise all fighter pay all across the board or do you think they'd just pay their stars enough to be mega rich while still paying 12k/12K to the new guys?

I think its a good standard, NBA and NFL make a lot more money, MMA fighters for the most part can't realistically expect to make as much but a fair share is a fair share. For now, theres no competitor to the UFC to force them to pay more fairly though and no Ali act type thing in place either.

16% of profits or whatever it is to the fighters is kinda heinous. But yes, I know, nobody is making them sign the 15k/15k contracts.

Id certainly hope theyd pay them across the board higher, maybe sign less fighters and less cans and actually take their brand seriously in terms of "the best fighters are here". Guys like Jones should have more negotiating power too, as an all time great who wants to challenge up in weight for the HW title and its safe to say the PPV hits 1m buys or better...15-20m is a very realistic sum he largely helps bring to the table but fighters besides Conor have little to no voice.

I agree with starting the prospects out fighting for little but they need to pay better purses much quicker in a guy's career if that makes any sense. Many guys take way too long to even break 100k with the company after many fights. Too many Diego's and not enough Conor's.

Consistent top 5 ranked fighters in each division should be making millions per year also. Slight increases to Champs in every higher weight class. For example HW Champs should make a bit more than LHWs and so on down the line. The lightest weight champ should not be making less than 1 million a year. Dj should've been making atleast that when in the ufc imo.

Top fighters like Jones maybe don't deserve 30 million per superfight but 5-10 should be mandatory for a fight like him vs Francis.

People who set new records should have higher increases in bonus money they receive.

If the ufc at least spends 35% of their overall profit (instead of 15%) they'd be able to set up a pay scheme like this but they are too greedy.

The CORRECT answer is that no such thing as fair or deserve in the marketplace. That isn’t how economics work. It’s about market-forces and what can be negotiated.

A bunch of people will through out arbitrary figures that “sound right”. But they are NOT giving real substantive answers they are just making stuff up.

That said there is an argument meant that the UFC has illegaly manipulated market forces through anti-competice practices. But there is much debate on whether or not this the case. No one knows answer at this point.

Jon does make about $5 mil a fight. Jon has said this repeatedly, multiple times.
