It's going to be hard for casuals to pretend the likes of Chandler/Oliveira would have kill Khabib, once Islam is going to dismantle the whole division.

It's basically having a retired fighter still being active.

Islam will eventually eclipse Khabib. He has all the skills and far less injuries and is in far better shape during off season. His weight cuts seem to be easier than Khabib's, so I think he will have more longevity. We will see.

Let's pump the brakes on the active talk until he makes the walk again this year

No way he fights before Ramadan... and then he'll probably have a good break after Ramadan and come back in September

hardly active brah

Islam The Eaglet Machachev.

No question he's the top 5 of the division. Look at how easily he dismantled all those unranked opponents. Khabib should just skip all the formalities and just give Islam the belt.

stop it.

Islam might be a champion but he won't be more dominant than Khabib. His outing against dober was a good performance but if that was Khabib, he would have beating heating GnP until Dober begged for mercy

Islam would get destroyed by Oliveira.

If it stays on the feet Oliveira would knock him out.

If it goes to the ground Islam would get submitted.

whether he has top or bottom position. Islam does not inflict enough damage and is not a good enough offensive grappler to submit Oliveira. He could not even handle Drew Dober, it took him 10 minutes of top control to find a position to submit Dober, all whilst inflicting next to no damage via GNP.

Islam is a good fighter but if he is smart he will let someone else take the risk against Oliveira, someone who could knock him out, since that is the only place he is susceptible to being beat against the crop of top 10 LWs.

@Peli
Prolonged GnP without ability to finish is not as impressive as a clean technical submission. In his last fights, Khabib has abandoned GnP as a tool of inflicting damage almost entirely and focused mostly on clean transitions, top pressure to tire the opponent out and a subsequent clean sub. Conor is an exception, because Khabib really wanted to punch that guy.

Islam already has all the tools to be more dominant than Khabib: his grappling is directly comparable and his striking is already better. And the best part? Islam's getting better from one fight to the next just like Khabib was, except Islam can potentially last much longer in the sport than Khabib.

@UFCIsNOTRigged
Lol. Islam has already outgrappled a far deadlier submission grappler than Oliveira will ever be in his career. If Felder can annihilate Oliveira on the ground, Islam will sub him within 3.

One fight every two years I wouldnt call this "active" but yeah whatever

Active? He has fought once in the past 18 months.

Fought for the first time in nearly 2 years but yeah, glad he's active.

Also, no-one said Chandler or Oliveira would beat Khabib.

Islam is good, very good BUT he's no Khabib. He doesn't seem to have Khabib's relentless pressure and aggression. Seems much more a "play it safe" type of guy. His wrestling and grappling skills are amazing but he's also not as strong as Khabib. Hopefully he comes out of his shell a bit more in the future.
