There have been a lot of immediate rematches after upsets and/or rightfully earned rematches and I was wondering if there’s ever a case where the fighter who was generally considered to be the better guy has lost the second fight.

BJ/Frankie. Sry I love Frankie but I am totally biased to the Hawaiian. :D

Rockhold vs Bisping.
Don't know if TS limited it to IMMEDIATE rematches, but if not, yeah this is an obvious answer.

Anyway, I think I see the point of this thread. It is statistically extremely rare. Wasn't there a similar stat that if the younger wins the first and they rematch the chance is overwhelming that the younger guy wins again?

I'm going out on a bit of a limb here but Randy Chuck 2 comes to mind.

Randy came into that fight a mess, going through a nasty divorce and clearly wasn't focused or properly trained. He was also having financial troubles with him gyms at the time.
