Media Jones twitter reactions during/after fight

Jones just better make sure he doesn’t end up eating crow and looking like shit at HW.

Jones is the pettiest human in the universe and it's great lol
The guys at or near the top remember every slight. Look at the Last Dance Documentary on the Bulls Jordan took every slight personally. Tom Brady has a belief that he was much better than where he was drafted and he evtually took it out on the league.

Jones has been saying about moving up since 2013 and Cain was champ
He actually started talking about it as early as Feb 2012:

Feb 2012
Jones flirted with the idea and has commented in the past that as he gets older and his body continues to develop, he sees heavyweight as a viable home.

Oct 2012
"I'll definitely move up to heavyweight," Jones responded. "But it'll probably be around 2013. Maybe at the end of 2013."

Nov 2012
"I respect the champions and the top-ranked guys in the heavyweight division," Jones said. "I realize that me, at my current size, the odds would be majorly against me, so it would be about doing it right, doing it with a lot of passion, and having fun with the game. I'll do it right when that time comes, I'll give it my all, and I'll expect to be a winner."

Dec 2012
"When I compete at heavyweight I plan on weighing like 240 and I really won't want to get much bigger than that." Jones said in the chat. "I think speed and agility would give me an advantage being smaller than those guys, so."

Jan 2013
"I think heavyweight is going to come along around 2014 - maybe even late this year. Who knows. It'll definitely be a fight for the fans."

Jul 2013
“It’d be a great thing because I’d bring a lot of speed against those bigger guys,” Jones said. “And my style is dynamic in a way I don’t think they’ve experienced. I don’t see any heavyweights throwing flying knees or spinning elbows. I’d be faster and a handful.”

"Yeah for sure [I’d like to fight Cain Velasquez], but right now I’m preparing to go into probably the toughest schedule I’ve had," he told an audience at the Prudential Center.

Nov 2014
"There's definitely a lot of heavyweights I know I can beat," Jones said. "There's a lot of heavyweights I know that could give me a hell of a run or possibly beat me. I keep it real. I'm smaller than these guys."

So Jones took to Twitter to respond to a question about his willingness to step up and accept the fight. Ranked as arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, Jones quickly responded that if the real heavyweight title was on the line, he's more than willing to do it.

“I do want to challenge for the heavyweight title, but I’m waiting for the perfect opponent,” Jones said.

“I feel like Stipe is relatively unknown to the general public. It wouldn’t even be a real superfight in my opinion. I think a lot of MMA fans would be super excited about, but the general public wouldn’t care about that fight,” explained “Bones.”

Feb 2018
“Your confidence is going to have to be on lock in order to beat me my guy. Can’t be talking about “I think I can.” I feed off picograms of self-doubt, and I can smell it from miles away. For now let’s just focus on the fights ahead of us. My heavyweight days are inevitable.”

“Nah, no,” Jones said matter-of-factly when asked about the potential matchup. “He looks good at heavyweight. He’s designed to be a heavyweight. He’s comfortable there. He naturally goes to heavyweight between every fight. That is his spot, and like I said, he makes a great heavyweight champion. Even before fighting me, he was on a tear at heavyweight. That’s his zone. I have no reason to challenge him at heavyweight, because for me it’s not personal."

Mar 2019
“I don’t think it’s fair, really, because I’ve always been a light heavyweight. Despite who the champion’s been, I’ve never challenged anybody at heavyweight. And I feel like I’ll move up to heavyweight on my own terms, when I feel like the UFC’s playing ball with me contractually to entertain that. No one’s entertaining any idea of switching the contract for any superfights, so we’re just kinda stuck at this spot here, fighting at light heavyweight.”

“I figure if you’re going to make the gamble, you might as well go extremely big,” Jones said. “Go big or go home. A Brock Lesnar fight (is) extremely high risk and extremely high reward. I don’t really see myself versus anyone that could bring in the numbers me and Brock could bring in.”

May 2019
“Right now, I make light heavyweight very easily and it would just make no sense to fight a guy who technically on your level, to give him a size advantage, I’m not doing it. I’m sure my fans don’t like to hear me talk like that but that’s just me being a realist and being respectful to Daniel’s abilities.”

“I was trying to get a Stipe Miocic fight and I thought that maybe that would happen,” Jones said. “But instead we have Stipe vs. ‘DC’ 3. But at the moment I was so ready to go to heavyweight and stick my hands in some of those big fellas.”

Bill Bellicheck once said he still remembers games of pee wee football he lost 50+ years ago lol

This is embarrassing from Jon.

The irony is that I see him having the same issues at HW that Izzy had at LHW. He has all the technique in the world but no natural power in his hands.

If you can't take down your opponent and you can't make him respect your hands because of a lack of power, expect a long night.

Obviously age is a factor, but Jones has looked an entirely different fighter (not in a good way) since being popped
