There is no way on this planet or dimension that Jan is better than Machida in his prime more than 10+ years ago.

Android Silva in his prime versus Israel? I mean Android Silva under USADA over 40 years old was pretty competitive against Israel.

GSP probably would 50-45 USma as well.

As good as Stipe is, Stipe doesn't get half the respect or even reverence from fighters, fans and coaches that Fedor used to get, and no way no how Stipe is better than Fedor.

Prime BJ Penn was moving up a weight class and finishing the dominant champ in that weight class and flying knee kick and finishing a lightweight challenger who gave that dominant welterweight champion a run for his money.

Is Aldo really any worse than Volk in his prime?

Or Cruz over Yan?

MM over Fig?

While I enjoyed it I saw 2 guys, that people use an examples of proof ofevolution of the sport, have a bar room brawl for the WW title not too long ago. Just winging overhands and looping punches......

The evolution of mma is grossly overstated. Sure, the skill levels improved a lot in the first 15-20 years of the sport, but since then,.i don't see much of a difference

I would only be confident in picking DJ against Fig when it comes to "old guard" beating the "new guard."

Prime fights is a joke.

Prime Silva beats Todays Izzy, that I believe. But I also believe Prime Weidman always beats Prime Silva and I hate Weidman. Prime Silva almost got beat by Sonnen and Weidman is years better than Sonnen. And Sonnen would get raped by Izzy

Styles makes fights.

Ask yourself this: Would Machida have developed into a better fighter if he was young today and had all the training tools that today's fighter does? Or is drinking your piss and learning karate from your Dad really the GOAT way to do it?

last i checked, khabib took sambo lessons from his dad, js

Amanda Nunes destroys prime 2008 Gina, prime 2010 Cyborg and prime 2013 Rousey.

On the same night.

In less than one min each.

Evolution confirmed.

MMA is probably evolving slower than some people think, so yeah there's examples of fighters from 10 years ago who'd be top tier today.

the calf kick was only invented like a year ago, so who knows what else is out there! :)

We have Arlovski and Oleyniyk still fighting (and had Overeem) and getting wins in the last year and all of them started in the 90s.

Whenever I hear new bread this is the first thing that comes to mind

I guess he is the old, new bread?

Just compare modern champs to the older champs and almost every modern champ is larger. Usman, Izzy, Stipe, Jones... All are very skilled and large. This is the evolution. I think modern fighters have more knowledge of techniques that work than 10 years ago where it was very experimental.

He also a premier fighter at the biggest MMA gym in the country surrounded by an army of coaches, specialists, and training partners.

But sure that's basically the same thing

Prime BJ Penn was moving up a weight class and finishing the dominant champ in that weight class and flying knee kick and finishing a lightweight challenger who gave that dominant welterweight champion a run for his money. Lightweight and Welterweight were not nearly as strong as they are now.
