Media The Black Beast Proving BJJ is FAKENEWS

If only he could do that against much better grapplers.

If his opponents were doing what they were supposed to most of his stand ups wouldn't have been able to happen or he would've paid for it with another L on his record.

Heavyweight just isn't really known for great positional grappling with smooth transitions. You have the best of the best Werdum Mir DC etc then a gigantic drop off in terms of grappling skill.

It’s easier to hop on than it is to hop off - Colby

yea but who were those guys? Ruan Potts, Viktor Pesta?
old washed up Gonzaga and Big Country, he didnt fully escape Abdurakhimov in that clip

plus he got Rear Naked Choked by Daniel Cormier

Didn’t Dc strangle this guy ?

DC is the best wrestler to ever grace the UFC HW division. This is like me saying Glover has a terrible chin because Rumble KO'd him.

What's with this weird nuthugging of Lewis lately? I know Sherdog worships those that win until they ultimately lose, but come on. Lewis is a mediocre fighter that is highly ranked because of a pathetic HW division.

Master of staying out of submissions? ROFL. Not if he were to fight an actual talented grappler (exhibit A- DC). Those don't much exist at HW. You have Jones, but he is more of a LHW, so we don't know how his grappling will translate with the big boys.

He won his last fight.

Pretty much, its a lot easier to "just stand up" against opponents who arent good enough to punish you.

Look at Werdum/Gus and thats an old past prime Werdum with greatly reduced mobility.

Every once in a while, someone will post something like this.

Back in the day it was after drunk Don Fry got knocked down in a casino.
Or Big Timmey got knocked out in MMA by a boxer.
Or recently when Hunt "lost" to a "rugby player".

"One day, I too will roll out of bed and beat someone who's been training martial arts his entire life".

Just get up....lol
Lewis has BJJ training. I've seen him apply "learning by doing" multiple times in MMA
(sometimes to his disadvantage) + obviously all the grappling his done in the gym.

This is what works:
"Just get him down"
By: DC, Werdum, Nogueira, Barnett....

And this is how it works: decades of training and fighting the best in the world.

"Just punch them in the face" works better for him (unless it against elite strikers like Hunt, ((or even some mid-level like Mitrione )).

People want to believe in magic, that's all that is

So he uses pure horsepower to standup no technique and burns out he's gas tank...

ufc 230 DC put a wrestle clinic, each time Derek used horsepower to stand up he got put straight back down and burned through he's gas tank.

That anklepick at the end was absolute beautiful to watch. DC was already planning he's next move/s before they happened. Technique beats horsepower
