It's martial arts training. Martial arts isn't only hand to hand. This is just modern weapon systems of martial arts. Ancient martial arts are filled with ancient weapons training. Plus all the running around is good for him to get used to moving his body around with the extra mass/weight he's putting on for HW (including the extra weight of his body armor).

True, but would be harder to aim with less dominant arm. Plus others just use their other eye and tilt their head for eye dominance issues. I haven't seen a video of him shooting or holding the rifle being right hand dominant instead of left. Being able to shoot both sides is what's best tactically. You can hit every angle and clear any angle/direction.
