Khabib fans and other logical people tried to explain why Conor defended 4 takedowns against Khabib, because all of those defended 4 take down attempts were in round 3 only, where Khabib decided to take off and rest a little bit after dominating Conor in the first 2 rounds.

Khabib took down Conor every single time whenever he wanted except for the round 3. That 4 defended Take downs all happened in the Round 3, Conor never defended a single take down against Khabib in the round 1, in the round 2, and in the round 4. It only happened because Khabib didn't want to take Conor down in the round 3, he was actively resting because he was a little tired due to dominating Conor in the first 2 rounds.

In the last night, that should've been clear now. Poirier tried to take down Conor, and he succeded. It's %100.

fghfghg.png

And Poirier is an average wrestler at best, not bad, but certainly not on top wrestler level, his BJJ is good but the wrestling is not Poirier's forte.

Poirier took down Conor in his first attempt, and his TD percentage was %100 against Conor.

Now I hope Conor supporters finally understand that Conor's wrestling is not even average and his TDD is not even average as well, he is not on top wrestlers level or even equal to Poirier's.

This was also one of the reasons that why Conor lost this fight, not only because of the leg kicks. When Conor started to control the momentum of the fight and getting better of Dustin during the exchanges, Poirier took Conor down and tired him out during the fight, which basically slowed Conor down.

I hope that now the Conor supporters would stop comparing Conor's TDD to the people who actually has good wrestling and good TDD, Conor doesn't have that.

He probably wasn't expecting Dustin to shoot in when he did. Rarely Dustin goes for a takedown in the 1st round so it was more of a surprise take down that caught Conor off guard. But he was able to get up easily even after getting taken down so that is also part of Conor's overall TDD is the ability to get up. TDD isn't always about just defending the initial take down, it's being able to get up and scramble after the take down also.

Conor has pretty decent tdd, we don't need stupid statistics to show that, you can just see it.

I agree that Conor's takedown defense is suspect but the argument that Khabib was "taking a rest" in round 3 is pretty freakin weak

Conor’s take down defense is good . Khabib won because of an illegal choke on a downed opponent ..
Also, If Conor’s leg didn’t give out Khabib never would of got him in that position in the first place .

It really isn't. Khabib was clowning around, and taking somewhat of a rest, but also clowning. If it was a 3 round fight, he would've poured it on and finished him/scored another 10-8. He did exactly the same vs Iaquinta. He was trying open hand slaps and Javier Mendez was going nuts, rewatch it man.

Isn't that convenient. He wasn't expecting it. This is MMA, grappling has won. Dustin has finished many people on the ground. Conor is a two division champ and wants to be champ again. He should've been ready to defend a takedown at any point in the fight

You are completely speculating

You need to pay more attention to detail. You're wrong on a bunch of stuff...

In each individual takedown's case, you need to look at the circumstances. Against Dustin, it was about being caught off guard. Had he been fighting Khabib and thus been prepared to defend takedowns to a greater extent, Dustin wouldn't have gotten him down. You also don't need to simply look at whether or not he got the takedown; you need to look at whether he was able to keep him down. Fighters don't typically just land takedowns for takedowns' sake; there's normally a plan to do work on the ground, whether that's to hold the opponent down to tire them or win points, or do damage or make sub attempts. In this case, Conor got up almost immediately, and returned to the clinch, where he proceeded to get the better of the exchanges. After the grappling ended, Poirier seemed more tired than Conor did, and had taken more damage.

Regarding Conor/Khabib, you're wrong about the stats. Khabib went 1/2 in round 1, as Conor very nicely stuffed the initial attempt, after which he produced the most significant damage of the round (elbows to the temple). After Khabib got him down, all he was able to do was hold him down. Conor significantly outstruck Khabib on the ground. Khabib didn't make any sort of breakthrough until the very end of the round. In round 2, Khabib landed a single takedown, and proceeded to maul Conor in typical Khabib fashion. In round 3, Khabib went 0/3, not because he chose to, but because he was tired and Conor didn't allow him an entry. The single takedown he landed in round 4 was in my opinion lucky, and wouldn't happen most of the time. Alas, Khabib secured control, and it defeated Conor, leading to the inevitable submission.

Your wider argument concerns Conor's takedown defense in general. I think it's among the best out of lightweights who aren't lifelong grapplers. Both the stats and the eye test are evidence for this. No, it isn't impeccable, but it's clearly very good. I think Khabib would be in trouble were he to rematch Conor.

Based on name, Turk i guess. I dont know are you trolling but based on amount of text i would say not.
No just no. I hope you are not working in some scientific field because your logic and ability to segment and see correlation between segments is bad.

It look like you are in some Jihad against Conor in name of prophet Khabib :D

When fresh Conor has good TDD. However for the Khabib fight, he cheated many times, from the beginning of the fight to the end of the fight. Had it not been for all the cheating, he would have been taken down much easier. Without the cheating, he would have been finished via kimura in the second round.

Conor was surprise taken down and got up immediately, he stuffed the other attempt.

Khabib went for a takedown in the first round, but he did it from a long distance. It wasn't a usual takedown, this takedown should've been far easier to stop, but even Khabib was successful at this and he took Conor down in the end.

The stats says Conor stopped 1 takedown in the first round, but it's not true, Conor only stand up for a mere seconds, Khabib's movement didn't end there when he didn't even free himself from Khabib, he still took Conor at the end of his attempt.

fgfhfgh.jpg

This is not stopping a takedown, Khabib's movement is not finished yet and there is still a close contact between Conor and Khabib, because of that Khabib manages to takedown Conor shortly after.

Conor never gets up after this in the first round. For entire 4 minutes!

So if people think Conor stopped a takedown in the first round, they are wrong. Watch the fight, Khabib took Conor down even from a very very long distance, which is incredibly difficult to take someone down and it's very risky because of getting hit by a kick to head, Khabib took him down in the first round without even engaging in striking first.

Conor’s take down defense is good . Khabib won because of an illegal choke on a downed opponent ..

Dont forget to mention the illegal striping of the belts!
He should be compensated by getting a title shot against Nunes for that!

So Habib got the last takedown by luck and Conor defended it all by skill? No foul moves?
