McGregor couldn't last for 2 rounds and Eddie had great cardio. That was stupidest gameplan ever

Eddie tried taking him down and clinching like Dustin did

Eddie doesn't have the size or offensive wrestling to do what Dustin did. Remember FW Pat Curran stuffed all of Eddie's TDs. Eddie is a gureat defensive wrestler not offensive

Eddie's striking defence is abominable. McGregor could land on his chin any time he wanted to both then, now and any time they ever fought. There's a reason that fight was made, easiest fight there s for Conor

Cole Miller would’ve beat McGregor if he hadn’t fucked his finger up...

Nah. Poirier's spacial awareness and timing have leveled up to a crazy degree since his fights with Alvarez. Different level fighters, and I'm a big Eddie fan.

Sure he could have done much much better...but c'mon. Conor found Poirier a few times and Dustin was able to handle it. Every time he found Alvarez it shook him up.

The wide stance with the covered space worked better for Conor than this shift towards boxing (probably because of him wanting to do the sport of boxing). Compact stance with more focus on offense isn't really his style. Then the weight even more on the front foot means the leg gets mangled from kicks.

While Poirier has become very composed, sure of what he can do. Alvarez would've done better against this version of Conor. Even with the face first brawling. Conor was missing a lot. He won't win many fights fighting with this style. Should go back to what worked, imo.

As much as I think Conor is overrated, Eddie is by far one of the worst champs ever in the UFC.

Lost tow Cowboy, 2 questionable split decisions over fighters with losses. Titleshot cause Tony and Khabib weren't avaiable. Finished a severely compromised RDA, got KO'd by Conor, Tried cheating against Dustin twice and lost. Got finished in ONE.

In the Gaethje fight he performed, cant take that away from him but he's a subpar fighter who will lose to Conor 9/10 times.

Don’t agree. Conor was at his all-time best that night. Focused on movement and fluidity over muscles. He hit DP hard last night but he still wasn’t as smooth. Bit on the muscular side too. Not to mention that Eddie didn't have that calf kick in his arsenal.

Nah. Im a dyed in the wool Conor hater. He still smokes eddie every time.

Good post. And DP was composed for a Conor opponent but he was clearly under serious pressure in the first.

He tried that after he got knocked down because he started exchanging punches with Conor , literally the dumbest thing he could have done.

Eddie and Aldo both could have beat him. Theres something to be said about McGregor and the mind games he was able to play

Thanks. The TD and pressing against the cage for the first 3 minutes was a smart move. And the calf kick has become a interesting, new often used tool by a lot of fighters now. Makes it harder for fighters who use a boxing stance.

Alvarez was never that good as Dustin is today. Conor landed the same punches on Dustin that knocked Alvares out. Let give Poirier some respect he deserves, he is a great fighter. Probably the best LW after Khabib

Yeah, Poirier had one of those later career level ups like what Lawler and Cheal had when he came back to the UFC. It’s always interesting to see guys who had potential, have a middling career and seemingly hit there peak, then something just clicks one day and they get to their potential. Better late than never.
