Well...i don't think is the case. What gets the hate is the "execution" of the cocky persona. At one point McGregor was offensive towards opponents and "philosophical" towards the rest, which made his fans behave like cult followers and see his cockyness as "part of the charm". Then he got caught in his own image and changed for the absolute worse, at that point, like cult followers, his fans had to give him a slap in the wrist and stay on the hype train as he descended into a shitty person.

Floyd from the day he started talking shit always came off as arrogant and overconfident. Even if he had the skills to back it up. That, coupled with a defense focused fighting style that doesn't please casuals much, is the reason his trash talk never got him the Conor treatment.

He would have a point if he questioned if fans would give the same treatment to Conor if he was a black fighter. I mean the whole drama phase after being so popular and influential. That tends to destroy black athletes for real.
