Media LOL Firas Zahabi live reaction at R1 scorecard Khabib vs Justin

Judges seem to completely ignore close sub attempts if they aren't successful/finished in time. Tight sub attempts should be scored as heavily as rocking your opponent IMO, especially if the fighter was saved by the bell.

If Khabib didnt win first round then its likely he would had lost every round in these judges eyes. He would have needed 10-8 or 10-7 rounds to get 10-9 rounds

justin landed some decent shots, but comeone, khabib got freaken mount. haha....khabib getting the dominant position takedown and then going for a submission, clearly won him the round. but in the end, who really cares...justin couldn't escape the 2nd round, without going to sleep...so lets give justin the round...even though we all know, he didn't win it. if it makes certain people feel better, then great. let him have the round.

Getting mounted prior to being saved by the bell while your opponent is locking in a submission should hold more weight too. The judging has become so garbage lately.

Judges (and some viewers) seem to just look at the strikes. Some viewers will look at the strike count to see who won.

Very little regard for a takedown, progress in position while grappling (to mount), or submission attempts.

It is like if you are a grappler you can only win by submission. You will never earn points grappling. Despite this being mixed martial arts, your art does not earn points.

These judges have been awfully quick to score rounds against Khabib. I blame intersectional discrimination

I’m glad just about everyone can agree that’s fucking horrible judging. Yes, judging landed some leg kicks but Khabib actually came close to ending the fight with that armbar. Fucking judges probably thought Justin was pushing Khabib off and Khabib was just trying to hold on to his arm.

Eh...takedowns used to hold WAAAY too much weight in fights. People would get smeshed on the feet, but throw in a panic takedown near the end of the round to "steal the round". They still seem to hold more value with some judges than they need to, especially when they don't do shit with it, and never advance their position.

The judges just need to be educated on MMA. Period. They don't know wtf they're judging. We also need an overhaul of criteria and rules. Stalling and inactivity need to be penalized. Attempting to finish the fight needs to hold more value than anything, and the end of the round positioning needs to be taken into account as if the fight were to continue from that point.

Basically we need to blend PRIDE and unified rules.

Lol timestamped

They landed a close amount of strikes, but for every two strikes Justin landed, he missed one. For every two strikes Khabib landed, he missed four. Whiffing that often compared to the other guy is going to look like the other guy is the more effective striker.

Justin winning that close first round is a completely legitimate scoring decision. Deciding that a takedown at the end of a round, with so little time that you can't do any damage and have no chance of landing a sub, does NOT "steal" the round is exactly what people on this site say SHOULD happen.

"Quick" - I don't think there's any indication of how much time it took them, vs how much time they'd take in scoring a round for Khabib.

If by "quick to score" you mean they don't give a round to Khabib for being Khabib, then I don't have a problem with that. It was a very close round, could have gone either way, and it did, on the judges cards. What's the problem?
