Paulo was frozen in respect of Izzy early, fought the same way he always does, just knew he was in the danger zone.

I did find that odd. Romero has never fought like Costa. The dude if the definition of situational aggression.

For all his muscle, Costa is nothing like Romero. Romero is able to explode into attacks in a way no one (at least at MW) can do. All of his wins are basically controlled explosions out of nowhere, often times featuring nonsensical athleticism.

Costa never has shown the ability for that. Romero is just a freak in his own league, I don't think there's another fighter really like him which is why he was so hard to gameplan for.

Romero is freak athleticism + assloads of high level experience, not unlike Izzy. Izzy knew full well Romero could turn out his lights purely based on the kind of speed and power he can react with. The overhands he was landing on Izzy was evidence of that alone.
