Pretty much any lab test has false positives and false negatives. From drug tests, to pregnancy tests, to HIV tests. With this type of testing being new, I don’t know what the rate is but false results certainly are not unheard of. Source: I work in a medical laboratory.

Fake positive COVID19 tests have been a major talking point.
Some of the tests report very low accuracy rates, fortunately trending towards false positives instead of the other direction.
Causes would Include rushed development of the tests, manufacturing pressure on the suppliers, bias towards wanting to see false positives compared to net accuracy.
