Jones is just a dumb narcissist and can't let anyone have their minute in the sun without trying to make it about himself. We saw it when Smith defended his family from a drug crazed home invader and now that Ngannou won again in spectacular fashion, he couldn't keep quiet and criticized his victory. So, predictably (for everyone in the world except Jon Jones), Francis is like oh really? You and me. Now Jon is stuck, he doesn't want to fight Francis but he doesn't want to look like a chump so he spends a day or two trying to laugh it off but then the social media pressure builds with everyone saying there's no way he would ever take that fight. That's when he is forced to craft an escape plan. He starts loudly saying he wants Ngannou and is going to run circles around him 'picking him apart' the whole time. So far it's working and the MMA world jumps on this fight and forgets about everything else. So he makes a big show of scheduling 'negotiations' with Dana White and then immediately after he hangs up, he says I'm out! They will not pay me reasonably for such a fight! Unbelievable! Dana doesn't take this lying down and calls Jon a liar. Jon accuses Dana of ruining his 'reputation' and then the whole thing spins out of control with Jon finally saying he's going to quit the UFC. And it all started with a little narcissistic jab on the internet that he just couldn't resist.
