Justin Gaethje has the best chance of dethroning khabib?

Hard to tell when we haven't seen a ton of wresting from him. It comes down to Khabib's first few td attempts. If Gaethje shrugs them off, I doubt Khabib makes it halfway through the fight.

Tony is competey different in that he doesn't get tired and is a threat on the ground himself. On paper, he matches up better with Khabib. Since the extent of Gaethje's wrestling talent is still a bit unknown, I'll call their threat levels even.

MMA analytics : Justin Gaethje has one of the best wrestling backgrounds in the lightweight division and has crisp boxing. He’s khabibs toughest matchup!

Khabib 1 minute into the fight :

Gaethje is no fool, he'll definitely be working on his grappling and take down defense for the fight. If he's able to nullify Khabib's grappling then he has a good chance of winning, especially if he remains patient like he did against Tony

Gaethje smashed Tony who had longer and arguably better run than Khabib had.
Longer? Both had a 12 fight winstreak but Khabib is 28-0. That's a longer run technically.

- Conrat >>> Cowboy
- Poirier >>> pettis
- Al >>> Lee 2x
- Khabib > MJ > Tony

Khabib is 4-0 against Tony :D
And when he beats Garth he will be 5-0 against Tony lol

Khabib Bless ur bum soul

Longer ? Better ? In what world ?

Last five Khabib's opponents: Poirier, Conor, Iaquinta, Barboza, Johnson.
Last five Ferguson's opponents: Gaethje(Lost), Cerrone, Pettis, Lee, RDA.

You don't need amazing wrestling to beat Khabib, unless you are competing in pure wrestling with him.

You need enough be able to quckly scramble out if he gets you to the ground. You don't need deep wrestling knowledge, you need to act very fast and don't allow him to progress his positions. You cannot have more knowledge and MMA wrestling experience than him anyway. Not even if you are an All-American.

The most important thing is to have anti-wrestling tactics ON THE FEET.
For example - shit ton of jabs or just any type of filler volume, lot of hand checking, framing building structures that stand between him clasping his hands and your ass. Pricise circling footwork. This is what will beat him. The good wrestling is nice and all, but if you can't buy enough time to stand on your feet and score points, you won't win.

edit: I summarised the most important things in these points:

-- Use a lot of feints

-- A lot of bodypunches, bodykicks (precisely maegeri because is fast and hard to catch)

-- Threat the fence as it was on fire - stay well away from it

-- Rely mostly on pitter-patter combos

-- Use hand trapping and hand checking - useful to guage the dustance and sence incoming TD attempts

-- Use wristcontrol when defending TD's on the fence, 2 on 1, control his posture

-- Never allow Khabib to clasp his hands behind your back

-- Don't back away in a straight line, always in a circular line

-- And don't back away without offering some type of an obstacle in front of Khabib - it could be an extended arm, a counter shot or even a well executed feint. It buys time and space to escape

Sorry to break it to you but even Javier Mendez has said Conor is Khabib's biggest threat and anyone with a brain knows Conor didn't show up in the first fight.

He’s gonna be working on defense wrestling all camp, no one has kept him down in the ufc (and he knew he’d get right back up),he has way better hands and leg kicks, so yeah he has a chance. Toughest fight for Khabib in his career easily, can’t wait

He also was talking about using footwork to not get trapped on the cage, he’s gonna shock the world imo
