Pretty much sums up how the elite of the UFC see the Russians. Not everyone sees these guys as exotic unbeatable beasts. Especially not savage and skilled top fighters. Gaejthe will have the same mindset against Khabib and will have the skills to back it up.

I guess the big difference is that Khabib is already champion. Y’know?

Some Russians ARE elite, but UFC does not sign real ones, they just look for undefeated records instead of methods and knowledge.

Edit: That 20-0 Kunchenko guy Burns was referring to was signed cause of his record, and then got released after getting robbed twice in a row.

Imagine being given a contract for your record and not for skills, and then getting released b/c of bad judging after showing that you're actually solid and systematic.

Says a lot about UFC's matchmakers.

So he had a chance to not leave the fight in the judges hands and failed?

Kunchenko has a tendency of fighting up to the level of his opponents and isn’t nearly as active as he should be

middle of the road fighter

Where is Billy the Kid? Is he in town yet?

middle of the road? he argualy beat Gilber Burns - certainly did in terms of damage - who is next in line for the title shot, also certainly beat Zaleski and got robbed.

Kunchenko is easily top10 material

I guess porrier (who tko'd justin) should have had the same mindset.
Thanks for the insight TS.

I watched both his fights, he looked solid and with experience would’ve developed into an elite level fighter... I’m baffled that he as released
