Did the Floyd vs Conor fight prove that size & age are almost as or even more important than skill?

Conor survived almost 12 rounds

He was a few weight classes bigger, much bigger reach etc.

It proved there's a massive gulf in ability between Conor and Floyd in boxing.

The whole thing was a complete waste of time.

No.... Because skill and experience is what allowed Mayweather to dominate that fight. So McGregor had a few rounds where he was throwing a lot of leather. His lack of experience made him gas a third of the way through the fight. Bernard Hopkins, George Foreman.... Randy Couture to hit closer to home in MMA. All beat younger upstarts with smarter fighting.

It proved that people will pay a lot for pure hype.
I dont get it but to each their own.

Oh and on topic: No.

Canelo is the same size as Conor and got schooled too. Floyd is just that good.

That's because boxing is much closer to sports than MMA is.

In boxing you can see some weird shit like Floyd Senior beating young kids in sparring.

If those same kids fought him with MMA rules they would kill him.

Boxing takes a lot more skill cause of the limited rules.

It proved that Conor and Floyd can sell a pile of literal shit for any price and millions of morons will happily pay for that shit.

it wasn't remotely close. Floyd has never been a big puncher and is even less of one since he started having issues with his hands. Floyd is also a conservative defense first fighter so it's not really his style to look for the finish, when he was younger and didn't have problems with his hands he was more apt to go for the knockout but hasn't for a long time.

they might because he's a boxer not an MMA fighter. But in 10 years Randy Couture will still be able to beat most people in MMA (assuming he stays healthy)

Age is clearly important. Get an elementary school kid, or someone from a seniors home to fight if you doubt this.
And size too is clearly important -- its the whole reason for weight divisions.

In the case of Floyd vs Conor, money and putting on a good show was much more important.

He survived that long because Mayweather allowed him to. The fight went exactly the way Floyd said it would. It is skill and always skill. Some athletes can keep it when they age and some cannot. Otherwise the sumo's would have been the UFC HW champs, but they got beat by skill.

Floyd didn't fight how he usually does because Conor wasn't a threat to him.

How many other times in high profile fights has Floyed walked into someone with his gloves up for 3 straight rounds?

He doesn't play games with real boxers who pose a threat of KOing him. But he said he carried Conor and you can see he actually did. He handed Conor 3 rounds right off the bat and prolonged the fight by playing around with Conor.

Size and age didn't matter at all since Floyd's skill was superior, as well as his conditioning.

If he continues jacking off ferociously and with dedication he might keep his youth a bit longer :D
