Obey the refs commands at all times.

Dan is verbally signaling Rozenstruik to stop.
Official fight time rd 5 4:56 exactly when this picture happens.

So if you're argument is it was early, this is where Rozenstruik has 4 seconds to work from had Dan not signaled stop.

It looks weird because most fighters don't listen (or honestly don't hear) to the refs but Rozenstruik did and instead of hitting reem for good measure he walked away.

Then why didn't he signal for the fight to end there instead of waiting for Overeem to stand up and take multiple steps?

I don't think he expected Reem to pop back up like that as he could see him go out cold when the shot landed. Hence why he charged in like that. When he did it threw him off and he hesitated.

TS has this been confirmed by Dan btw?

Dan screwed up, and then realized his mistake, but now is trying to justify stopping it.

It seems like he stopped the fight, then realized Overeem wasn't out and looked in a panic, but then found relief to stick to his decision saying Overeem was wobbly and couldn't continue a fight that was already over... WTF man? Fight wasn't over, he fucked Overeem badly.

He charged in like that because one fighter punched another fighter and one of them fell, that happens every time. And you don't get up that fast if you're KO'd. So there's still no explanation as to why he didn't wave the fight off immediately if he thought it was over.

He's not just charging in he's giving a verbal command. This is at 4:56 the official fight time.

After that he taps Rozenstruik signaling he heard right and the fight is over.

Then is trying to talk to Overeem because his job is fighter safety, but Overeem jumps up turns away from Dan, Dan grabs his arm to turn him and Dan emphasize that he ended the fight by waving his arms in front of him. This is like 4:59 or possibly after the clock even.

He didn't give a verbal command, just because his mouth is open in the pic you posted doesn't mean he's verbalizing the fight being over.

And his job is to get between the fighters when stopping the fight, not let the "KO'd" fighter stand up immediately and then stand behind him. Had he waved the fight immediately, there would be no controversy. But instead, he let the fighter stand up and move away from the other fighter, then waved it off. He fucked up, it's that simple. I don't know why you feel the need to defend him.

some crazy fan really want these too many hard shots
one more right hand from hell and Overeem would spend a week in hospital or worse

it was the right call, Overeem was unable to defend himself period

But he runs in between the fighters. A ref doesn't get in the way of the fight unless he is stopping it. He was running in with the intent to stop the fight then rozenstruik walks off and overeem rises from the dead. Refs starting position was too far away which meant he got there too late and rozenstruik never followed up which allowed overeem to get back up. If the ref was closer it wouldn't even be a discussion or rozenstruik followed up.

It just looks bad because Dan hesitates before waving his hands to call the fight but I guess he wanted overeem to see that but couldn't as he had his back turned staggering to his corner. Once he grabs his arm and turns him around that's when he signals to him the fight is over. The fight is done when the ref is standing in front of overeem imo, he has no need to do so if he wants the fight to continue. He also does not once gesture to rozenstruik to continue fighting. He called the fight by his other actions before he waves it off

I agree that he screwed up and panicked when overeem got back up. Overeem was done though, rozenstruik just spared him. Ref botched the stoppage and made it look more controversial than it was.

He's not opening his mouth to catch flies bro. He doesn't tap Rozenstruik for fun.

Maybe he fucked up and it's early stoppage or like you're saying he could have shown he ended the fight more emphatically.

My point is Rozenstruik isn't the moron wondering away from reem like people are pretending, Dan called him off.

He was clearly muddled and indecisive. He'd already put his hands on Reem before he even decided to stop the fight.

I think he reacted to the walk off, then was unsure, then realised he was already committed and waved it off.

Early stoppage. Mario Yamasaki would have given Overeem the last few seconds to be a warrior

That's all you had to say because he didn't get in the way of the fighters until Overeem was already standing and walking away. That's the issue because there was no threat of Rozenstruik striking Overeem.

And he does “signal” the fight was over in the last second of the clip. Watch his right arm. He waved his hands in the air 3 seconds later because Reem was out of it and didn’t know what was happening.

It was a tough night for Dan and yes, the stoppage was early. Rozenstruik shouldn’t have just walked off the way he did. However, Reem has taken an unreal amount of head trauma over the years, the stoppage was probably for the best.

A fighter doesn't always have to be out cold to warrant a stoppage.
