Askren finally emerges behind the gates to speak to the media. The chin quivers. He starts to sob.
"I don't know what you want to hear from me," Askren says. "My dreams are crushed.
"I just wasn't good enough. I sucked.

I lost because I wasn’t good enough. Plain and simple. My opponents beat me, they were better than me, and I want that to be just said out there. Obviously, these hip issues for me are totally separate. I lost because I wasn’t good enough.

“These obviously seem as though they’re excuses, but I don’t want them to be viewed in that light,” he added.

Hes a good guy. Really competitive

Fighters that are honest and can face reality like him should be cherished. opposed to "my foot was a berloon"

Hes humble in defeat which only true stand up guys do.
He got the opportunity and took full advantage of it, who wouldn't?
I'm glad we finally got to see him in the UFC regardless of the results

It takes a strong man to be sincere about things that deep and personal

Folks that don’t understand/can’t get passed Ben’s shtick are tools. He’s a funny dude. All the best, Ben!

Nice guy, too bad he didn't stick around longer.

Wow, I never liked him and/or his fighting style, but that kinda made me a fan. He's the man for telling it like it is, without some lame excuses. Props to Ben.

Ben's the man. He achieved so much that he knows he can hold his head up high.
I wish he would have one more, there are definitely winnable fights for him but who am I to say If the man dont want it anymore. All the best to the dude.
