Love the guy, super charismatic, great personality, has a bright GOAT future for sure.
But he shouldn't want to fight Jones now.
He has better striking for sure but Jones is a giant 240 pound dude who will take him down at will at slice him open with elbows there.
What he should do IMO is becoming the MW goat by staying there and beating everybody for the next 2-3 years (what would buy him time to improve on his wrestling defense) and then go up where there is nothing left to prove and try to fight Jones.
Fighting Jones now could be a career ending thing...
 
Izzy has said that he doesn't want to fight Jones yet. He wants to reign over the MW division first, like Silva. Very respectable.

Once (if) he has several title defenses, then a Superfight will make sense. In a couple years this could be an amazing fight, but yeah Jon will obviously be the big favourite unless he declines rapidly before that point.

Wise from him if it is so. Jones will eventually decline, at least I hope so...
 
I think exactly the opposite instead, dana should book this fight as soon as possible, the hype would be insane, this fight has the potential to break any record.

Jon Jones would fudge him up to smitherens.
 
Skill-wise, Adesanya would be an interesting matchup for Jones. Elusive, long, rangy (not as long as Jones, but still as big of a reach as the longest fighters Jones has fought) accurate and with great feints, footwork and a takedown defense that looks really good so far, he looks a bit like you'd imagine the anti-Jones fighter, but i really do think that Jones is just too strong, given his size. Defending takedowns is A LOT more difficult when you're going against someone who's as good as a wrestler as Jones is and on top of that is said to be really strong for his weightclass as well.

Adesanya walks around 203 according to the recent Rogan podcast, Jones is a 230 pound guy who cuts down to 205 from around 222.

30 pounds is a pretty big difference, although we must all remember that 180 pound Dempsey beat the breaks off of 245 pound Willard.

If they pay him right he should definitely fight Jones. If he loses he's still the middleweight champ. If he wins he will be the guy that finally beat Jones legitimately. Jones is going to lose one day and the person that does it will have a big feather in their cap. If I was Israel I wouldn't want to take a chance of someone else doing it.
 
Beat Romero, Costa, Cannonier / another emerging MW all in 2020 then fight Jones in 2021.
 
Yeah, it's common knowledge.
He has to defend his MW title a couple of times in the first place. Romero, Cannonier, Costa, Till, there are some real challengers there.

Yeah Izzy needs to build up size and develop his grappling more. The fight shouldnt happen unless Izzy has cemented himself as the champ with a string of title defence if it happen and that's a big if, then he can consider it

Jones is very big up top so in the clinch Jones would be able to do damage. Izzy does have better striking at the moment but Jones obviously is a bit too big
 
I would love to see Jones elbow this dude to hell right after he does his gay ass power ranger dance again.
 
Jones isn't the same without the PEDs. He looked a lot less dominant against OSP and Marreta. Israel might have what it takes.

It wouldn't hurt to fight Romero first to test him against elite wrestling.
