The kind of damage you get from a UFC fight does not take years off your life. Junior Dos Santos did not lose years of his life in the Cain Velasquez fights. Rory Macdonald and Robbie Lawler did not lose years of their life in their fights. It's idiotic to say these things. There are people who lose limbs in wars who go on to live in their 80's and 90's.

Um actually losing a limb significantly decreases life expectancy.

This thread took 10 years off my life.

I heard dying takes years off your life.

Wolverine is a fictional character.

You don't fully recover from damage. It takes a toll on their bodies.

It’s a common combat sports saying that’s been around a long time in boxing. Taking serious damage to the head will definitely affect someone in the long term.

Research shows that time takes years off of your life, and that anyone who competes in MMA will die. So you wanna be a fucking fighter?!?

Ummm....

How do you know that? How do you know if the elders wouldn't have lived longer with their full limbs?

that saying also has another meaning.

most of the time that we say that, we are talking about the shelf life of the fighter and their possible prime. a 25 year old fighter thats been in wars and gets his brain rocked nonstop will most likely have a much shorter prime than someone whos barely taken damage. A really, really brutal knock out can change someones entire career and chin forever, thus shortening their career aka fight life.

see Romero vs Weidman

So OP thinks humans can take repeated blows to the head and be fine afterwards?

Your lack of common sense is taking years off your life as a functioning human.

This post is trash, delete it and your account immediately

The danger fighters face is real, respect it!

This fight last week literally took 52 years off of his life:

You are very very smart

Living without an arm is the same as not having your most vital organ function (that’s the brain, save yourself the google)

Thank you for your incredible insight Dr.

Kind of agree with TS.

I think most of the damage is done in training.

Guys who sparred like idiots (Shogun, Wanderlei) were completely shot in their mid 30s.
