It's a risky move to kick to the body against an elite wrestler like DC. You get too sloppy or predictable with the setup or are otherwise too slow with the rebound and you're on your back getting smashed with little hope of getting back up unless you survive until the end of the round.

No doubt about it though: DC has shown a tendency of getting hurt with body kicks, visibly grimacing and lowering his hands to stomach level against multiple opponents that have landed them.
