I miss the old Conor McGregor

First off i am no Conor nut hugger. Many times I have slaughtered him on here and rightly so

So I am on holiday in Spain flicking through the channels on the TV and I come across a re run of the Conor v Brandao fight. I then listened to the MMA hour from the Monday following with Ariel interviewing Conor.

WTF happened to that guy. Very Witty, funny, talented, humble and most of all ridiculously likeable. Such a shame that he has turned into a first class bellend. I remember at the time thinking he was a decent fighter but no way would I have predicted he would turn out to be such a massive star

Can't blame him for chasing the huge payday v Floyd but from that moment he has been on a steady decline. Such a shame as he was in his prime and had just put on by far his most impressive performance when he destroyed Eddie Alvarez. Dana has to take some of the blame for allowing him to run riot without consequence

It's sad that money and fame can change someone so fast

Everyone does. Whether you were a fan or not he made fights interesting.

Conor was the UFC for a period.

He’s fine. He just made so much money he cant get amped to fight. Plus he he cant put at risk his whiskey business

Even his haters liked some parts of his promotion. Like the "is this a therapy session" quote

I think him contradicting his code, for example cheating on Dee after talking about loyalty, has made his code worthless, and thus everything he says has now lost any credibility. Similarly how he was caught looking at the referee for help when he ah previously said men should handle their own shit and not look to others for help.

Yeah. It was fun. But unless he is going to step in the cage I’m sick of hearing of the dude.

His “pay attention to me” tweet following every main event is getting really pathetic.

If he wants to retire, fuck escorts, fights bums at the pubs and swim in a pool of money like Scrooge McDuck, that’s all fine, but he needs to stop pretending he is still an active fighter and the UFC just looks stupid leaving him in the LW top 3 when he is 2-3 above 145lbs since beating Aldo and hasn’t actually won in years.

Conor was the man when he came to the scene. In the beginning he was:

We are not here to take part but to take over

Every time he gets hit with a gust of wind he does the chicken dance

He is a nice country boy, he probably has a cousin name Cletus in Alabama

Timing beats speed and precision beats power

Throwing gang signs with one hand, making animal balloons with the other

Afterwards:

You fooking backwards cunt

Your dead if I get my hand on you

Fuck you, fuck you!!!

Proper 12 is the way to go

Buy my Irish whisky its good stuff

Amazing how his charisma and personality also fell apart big time.

That's cause he used to fight. now he just talks.

Conor still is the ufc and will be a force once he returns. Someone of Conor's caliber needs big fights and he's not going to come back and fight some no-name just because he's the number 1 contender. Conor is bigger than the sport of mma but you have to appreciate the fact that he still has passion for the sport and in his own words: dedicated his life to being a part of the fight game. Conor is training hard and he will be back, and when he does all of his haters will be silenced

He was my favorite fighter for a while

He was funny as hell before but he is full of cringe now, and he doesn't even fight anymore

he's definitely at the low point of his career. no need to re-hash the details. but he's cringe-worthy and has been pretty embarrassing for the past year or two. thing is, if he fights relatively soon and wins against a solid opponent (Gaethje seems to be the perfect match right now), then he'll be "back". not necessarily at the top of the game where he once was, but close. if he loses? bye bye

I miss the old Conor, straight from the 'Go Conor
Chop up the soul Conor, set on his goals Conor
I hate the newConor , the bad mood Conor
The always rudeConor , spaz in the news Conor
I miss the sweet Conor, chop up the beats Conor
I gotta to say at that time I'd like to meet Conor
See I invented Kanye, it wasn't any Kanyes
And now I look and look around and there's so many Conors

When you make so much money that you dont have to listen to anybody the hunger dies....Again..Dude is straight up legit as a fighter...Or was...I can understand it being hard to get back in...and being hard to walk away...This wont end well either way..
He doesnt have the motivation any more to train and be the best at mma and he lacks the self peace and family to retire with his money and enjoy it...He's actually crossed the finish line in life with bells on and doesnt know what to do.....Again...This wont end well either way...

I share your sentiments. Conor was awe inspiring in his ascent; detestable in his descent

Conor will be back stronger than ever, Artem is drilling him hard now.
