I think a lot of financial instability in the US is the result of our healthcare system and childcare (or lack thereof). Give every citizen a low OOP public option and childcare (if they have kids). If able bodied people are still financially insecure with these welfare programs, let them tighten their belts.

Government should provide 8 hours of free life coaching via Skype for anyone that's willing. Teach a man to fish...don't send him on a monthly fish.

Unless it's Jerry Springer nobody would be watching. Also, it's not the governments responsibility to teach adults how to live properly. That falls on the people in society. Can you imagine the cost of a government provided 8 hour seminar on "life coaching or life skills?" It would cost the taxpayers a million dollars or more to develop that course...guaranteed!

Ive spent most of my life on the edge of financial ruin. Combination of needing to maintain, lack of opportunity, lack of higher education, stupid spending etc.

Things have been looking up lately but its pure luck to have found the right people and the right opportunities. Its very difficult to seek opportunity from the edge and needing to maintain your roof and stomach while also trying to have fun. Im just a peasant that has never particularly minded being that way, a problem within itself.

Its probably safe to assume most adults desire money stability/freedom without the starting resources to make it more than a pipe dream.

In my case Ive never had enough to bother with investments, at least thats what I tell myself since lots of money has been completely wasted on filling lungs, sinuses, stomachs and breaching the blood-brain barrier. Dim dim dumb dumb. Feels good to live cheap and nearly clean at this stage of my life.

the only people I feel for are the medical poor. It’s awful and almost criminal. Something needs to change there.

I've got an idea: Since the corporate class has been offshoring jobs, evading their taxes, getting massive tax subsidies, lobbying against minimum wages, unions, labor reforms, etc etc, how about we elect politicians that promise to tax the fuck out of these scumbags, and take back what they concentrated?

Surely this would benefit normal Americans nationwide, red and blue. And hey, what kind of lickspittle douchebag argues for these scumbags, right?
