Absolutely madness. Just thought I'd point out. UFC 198 Miocic KO's Werdum in first round. UFC 199 Bisping KO's Rockhold in first round. UFC 200 Nunes submits Tate in first round. UFC 201 Woodley KO's Lawler in first round. Bonus: Alvarez finishes dos Anjos in first round at UFN 90. God, I love this sport.
And every single one of them was an underdog. I don't know what to think of it. Is it good or bad? Is MMA improving or regressing. I'm just gonna sit back and watch the bodies hit the floor
Definitely an exciting time period Lawler was the only champ I really liked. I didn't watch the card last night, because.. Well it looked like shit on paper I was so bummed when I read the result. Glad I didn't watch it
I think it's a pretty spectacular time to be a fan of MMA. A lot of parity and to me that's far more exciting than knowing who is going to win. A lot of fun match ups on the horizon because of this upheaval.
Makes you really appreciate champs like Andy, GSP, Bones and Aldo. Inb4 haters saying NSADA, weak comp, etc.
Yeah its just who can connect with a sloppy over hand right first will win... thats what it seems like lately. belts changing hands every fight, and I expect more of the same...
I actually prefer dominant champs. I like thinking "this guy is the guy" as opposed to "well a lot of people felt he lost his last fight, let's see what happens in this one" I like sustained excellence over parody
Its definitely been interesting but I could do without all the 1st rd Ko's Much rather spend my money to see a 3rd or 4th rd KO after a hard fought battle, quick KO's make me feel like I didnt get my moneys worth Hopefully Ari Emanuel will start booking things a little better, lets get some slow burn storylines up in this piece
Of 10 UFC champions I believe only 4 are actually 'the best' in their division. 2016 has been bananas. It's a crazy phase. Enjoy it while it lasts. It won't endure.
It's really hard to manage storylines in MMA. When you try, you nearly always fail. Injuries, replacements and unseen left hooks mean that the best laid plans...
I suppose because you're a wrestling fan, you like the angles and the plots to thicken. I love a first round KO/sub from an underdog, it shows me how wild this sport really is. Every now and then you get an Anderson, Bones, GSP or DJ but those 4oz gloves, I love it.
this isnt good i dont think - the ufc wants to build invincibility aura through marketing, and seeing champs constantly lose has to make some people realize that the sport is much closer than the ufc marketing machine would want you to believe - including fighters in other orgs gasp
The margins of error are just as small as they ever been, but the talent is more concentrated. Especially in certain divisions, like the one's you listed.
