I bought my first 3D printer about 3 months ago after I found out how affordable they are now. My Ender 3 was the best $250 I've ever spent on a hobby.
It's very user-friendly, and there's tons of files online to download and print. I've been trying to learn some CAD and other modeling software to design my own stuff, but the programs aren't so user-friendly....
I'll post pics of some of my projects in the comments later on.20180613_213000-1195x2124.jpg

One of my first prints. Found it on thingiverse.com

I've never really have one much thought but I'll keep an eye on this thread

As soon as there's a way to 3-D print myself a fucking life I'll be all over it. But no, I had no idea they had become so affordable. How much does it cost to run?

Cheap. Most rolls of filament (plastic) is around 30 bucks per kg. You can print a lot with that.

Thats very reasonable too. And are the blueprints online free, or is there a cost associated?

TS,

Look up some files from PornHub and print something out...

Do it! I'm 49, and totally geeking out on this hobby. Lots of printer reviews on youtube.20180819_121520-1195x2124.jpg
Glow filament exists, but I read that it's hard on your nozzle. I just painted the statue with glow spray paint.

I'm not seeing the point here.

Is this just Creepy Crawlers for adults?

Any idea on what to get? I've found some cheaps ones that start at $250 - $300 and then at $900 and upwards from a reputable tech retailer. This would also be a hobby/fun pass time for me too but not sure on what I should spend, would rather start with a cheaper one as a starter

After researching myself, i chose the Ender 3 pictured above. About a 9x9 inch print area, and about 10" high.
The same company makes the Creality CR-10 with a bigger print bed for around $350.
Avoid Anet and Tevo brands. Check YouTube reviews.
