Watching NBA the other night with Fred VanVleet going off for 2 game and in particular his last game and went 7/9 at 3 -point range after having his baby just days before. He was garbage before. Everyone was saying his confidence was shot.

Cerrone...he's notorious for folding under pressure.
he has a baby and now it seems like there is no pressure.
hes 3-0 since.

What I think happens after having a baby;
the expectations of other people dont matter.
nothing else in the world matters to the dad but that baby.
and because the dad has that mentality, you're doing it for their pure kid who has no expectations at all...
instead of doing it for all the people who have expectations.
There is no worry of letting people down because you're not doing it for them anymore,
you're doing it for the baby, who will still love you the same even if you lose.

TLDR:
There is no pressure when there are no expectations of you, because you're not worried about letting anyone down. The external is not in your mind.
If you are doing it for the baby, and you say fk everyone else, you are not worried about letting him down because he doesnt expect anything from you.

inb4conorjunior... it only works if you have that "only the baby matters" mindset.

That's nonsense (in the context of fighting). If you were doing it for your baby, then you would quit and find a profession that is less risky and still allows you to provide for your child.
