jon jones is goat, dc is 2nd atm because he was the second double champ in history. If dc loses against Stipe is stock will PLUMMET. Would Conor who was the first double champ be number two next to Jones?

Conor is an above average fighter with zero gas tank. Nowhere near the top of the list.

Why do people discredit Conor's MMA ability?

His resume and double champ status speak to his greatness.
He had one of the highest PPV's buys in sporting history against one of the greatest boxers ever.

None of it was by coincidence, he made it all happen.

Longevity is a factor when you are claiming GOAT status. You have to be at the top for a while. This is something Conor has not even tried to do. He's had some glorious moments no doubt. He's also had some less than glorious moments too.... His double champ status speaks to his abilities. His time spent at the top speaks to his greatness.....What he does now will be his legacy.

His resume kind of does the opposite though. He has fought 4 top 5 guys in his career losing to 1 of them.

Good fighter who greatly benefited from the time he came into the sport sure but far from a "great".

He's not in the discussion. He had a single good run at FW, and a gifted title shot at LW. Since then he's done nothing. He's likely already HOF status due to his cultural impact but that by no means he's amongst the all time greats when it comes to resume.

In no particular order -
1) Fedor
2) DC
3) Aldo
4) Mighty Mouse
5) GSP

I joke, but his no where near 2

Agreed, such a pity he basically threw away his prime by boxing Mayweather then blowing 100 million on cocaine and hookers.

I don't think anyone can discredit what he has accomplished or his abilities. I just think the people that refuse to place his balls in their mouths are the ones that see his nowhere near as talented when it comes to MMA....Nate Diaz said it best. Conor beat his opponents before they entered the cage and when Dana helps make that happen.....it's a lot easier to beat someone physically when you've already beat them mentally

Because "had one of the highest PPV's buys in sporting history against one of the greatest boxers ever" speaks nothing of his MMA ability. Nil.

He wasted his prime to earn big money. Good for him. His true "MMA ability" was shut down completely vs Khabib. And doesn't look like he cares to show up again.
