Lee vs RDA, didn't seem like RDA had any trouble at all defending Lee's takedowns. He even got caught with his back taken and escaped handily (obviously helps that he's incredible with his escapes)

Goes up against larger guy in Usman, and gets completely overpowered and bullied. He was doing well defending Usman's takedowns early in the fight but when it came down to it he's just too small to fight someone those large and powerful 170'ers.

Below 200 lbs because at HW, the bigger guy doesn't always win and only in extreme examples does a size advantage play a role (lesnar vs couture for example).

RDA is a tweener. When they talk about doing a 165, he’s one of the few guys that it would really benefit. Lee is also. Both of them suffer to much from the weight cut but give up to much strength at WW

It's not about size. Usman did the same to Woodley.
Usman's wrestling>>>>Lee's wrestling.

Also I don’t agree that he didn’t struggle. It was a very competitive grappling match with great escapes all around. Fatigue ultimately got Lee

Um, you do understand that Marty also dwarfs Woodley, right?

Marty is easily THE biggest WW right now. It is a size (and strength) issue.

How many featherweights are bigger than Max? How many lightweights are bigger than Khabib? How many welterweights are bigger than Usman?
They should call this the Ultimate Weight Cutting Competition.

While Max is brought up, he's also a good example. Goes up to 155 and gets the shit beaten out of him by a shorter yet bigger guy. Dustin wasn't even that much bigger than him, that's the kicker. I really think the UFC needs more divisions.

RDA put on a clinic against 5'11 Robbie but lost to 5'11 Colby

Yes, it's the size that is the difference. Can't be stylistic match ups and differing skill sets.

Also beat 6'3 Neil Magny

That's not what "dwarfs" means.
And anyway Till is bigger.

Just stop seeing size as a factor in MMA, when the whole history of the sport shoves to our faces again and again that it's not.
Usman is a great wrestler, aggressive pounder with ever improving striking. Size is NOT the biggest problem of his challengers

RDA lost to khabib at 155, who would be a small 170 fighter. It's techniques more than size. It also may have been just RDA's state of mind and conditioning at the time of the fights. He has the skills, but khabib dominated him more than Colby or Marty. As far as size helping below 200 I agree. Jon has used it well being a natural hw that cuts to gain an advantage, yet says he won't fight guys that are good if they are bigger than him. Gsp and Anderson used it well too. Gsp fought tons of smaller manlet wrestlers, as there were realky no great strikers at that weight then. Anderson always had the Jon Jones reach advantage and used it as well as Jon does today. They are both masters of distance that take full advantage of thier reach and size.

Usman had a big size advantage over Woodley.

Usman is arguably the biggest guy in the division.

But I do agree that it's not just about size. Khabib beat RDA worse than Colby did.

no he isn't lmao. he is strong. Woodley had a wrist issue for that fight. Woodley is huge. 190 plus In cage. Marty is 185. There are some other dudes like taleb, ponzinibbio who are just as big as oozy and Woodley.

first of all with last nights fight Lee proved that his cardio sucks with or without the weight cut. 2nd of all RDA scored the first and the more takedowns of the fight. meaning he won most of the wrestling/grappling exchanges. kevin lee has inferior technique and relies too much on raw power. technique > power.

He's certainly taller, but in terms of build Woodley looks much more powerful. And for strictly mma wrestling, the lower base is probably a good thing minus the ability for the taller athlete to sprawl more effectively. Height is the least important indicator of size in this context.

His upper body is actually bigger than Woodley's lmao. Only Usman's legs are inferior in size to Woodley's, that's it.

Robbie had 1 leg left and also another injury.
Magny is one of those tall guys, that can't move properly like Struve. No talent, not enough sports in youth.
