if Askren at 36 can do what GSP was unwilling to do at the same age, and wins the ww strap, does it cast doubt on the legitimacy of GSPs reign back in the day?

Would GSP have been dominated by Askren had they fought in their primes... and more so, would GSP be inclined to come back if such an undeniable threat to his legacy is realized, would he dare face Askren, and even then, did uncle Dana mastermind this operation???

Two completely different careers

Askren has only competed once in the UFC while GSP had already dominated that division for so long

age doesn't matter in this situation GSP was at the top when Ben was fighting lower tier guys more wear and tear on GSP

<GSPWoah>

Does Askren move up to 185 and beat someone with Anderson, Rockhold and Hendo on their resume' for the belt...

Woulda loved to see gsp jab askren's face off all night.

Jesus are we all desperate to try and tarnish the greatest WW's career? Wtf is the motivation here?

No. Nobody can touch GSP right now. Likely won't touch his accomplishments for a good long while , if ever.

In what way? Askren has only been badly damaged like 3 times in his MMA career. GSP fought through the thick and thin, putting his teeth out there against top contenders and monsters. I'm a fan of Ben but GSP put his body on the line more than Ben ever did.

Lol why even compare their careers? They are so different.

While Askren was practicing north south position with Tyron at Mizzou, GSP was taking on some of the very best fighters in world.

Lol what?

Do you really think Askren beats someone like Usman??? Lmao. Askren has one fight in the UFC and it was a questionable win. Calm down.

Askren has to defend several times before he is even close to same league. The dude spent the majority of his career fighting nobodies, while GSP fought some of the top guys of his era.

Not sure if trolling or just dumb.

Does it fuck, people don't seem to understand that people peak at different times

People are so desperate to knock GSP down a peg. I guess now that Tyron is gone this is all that's left.

  1. Askren is 34, not 36
  2. Prime, pre-ACL injury GSP would absolutely dominate any version of Askren.
Just calm down on Askren. He barely survived a fight against a guy with a 20-year MMA career and multiple injuries (including ACL). Lawler is a good 3-4 years past his prime and he still came within seconds of getting a stoppage.

No.

But I would enjoy witnessing those two compete against each other.

The entire premise of this thread is non-sensical and ridiculous. What does two separate careers at two different times have in common? They're both welterweights, they're both wrestlers, they're both in their 30s... anything else is reaching and/or retardation.

GSP at 36/37 was winning the Middleweight Championship. How would Askren winning the Welterweight Title years after he dominated the whole division be a mark against his career?

Askren doesn't have the time on his side necessary to even remotely challenge GSP's legacy. It would do wonders if he could beat George, but he'll never have the level of resume George has and that's just that.
