Holloway - big FW, I would say natural LW....almost died making the weight vs T-City
GSP - big muscular WW, made MW and did not look small vs Bisping
Jon Jones - huge LHW with massive reach, could easily fight at HW
Silva and Weidman - big MWs

It's nothing new for a champ to be big at the weight they succeed. It's part of the weight cutting game, the more you cut the bigger you are for the weightclass whe you get in the cage with all pro's and con's. If Conor gets shit for it, many others should as well.

That’s w Conor thread was not needed
All jokes Aside
Aldo was a big featherweight who walks the exact same as As McGregor
Holloway a guy who has pulled out 3/4 is bigger than both at 180-185
Mcgregor is the only fighter in MMA not allowed to cut weight(even though he hasn’t missed or overdosed on tiramisu like some...)
GSP was not a big welterweight
Jones is not a big LHW, he’s 220 soaking wet
He’s just really tall and long.
Forgot to add Khabib and others

As long as both guys make weight, how can you say one has a size advantage?

Unless you're talking about HW....

Have you seen Conor at the weight in for the FW fights. Jon Jones and Silva both look great at weight in, doesn't look drain at all.

For ppl that say Jon Jones is too big for LHW but he make weight like its nothing. Dude still has a shit load of energy at weight in, you can't say the same for others fighters cutting weight,.

Eye test isn’t reliable

It’s way more telling to look at FW Conor on fight night compared to UFC 202 weigh in (where i believe he weighed in at 168 and was fully hydrated). Huge difference. That means he likely wasn’t close to 170 on fight night while fighting at featherweight. Likely 160 which is normal for a 145er.

Good thread and underrated point. A lot of people complain about these guys cutting weight...the bottom is u need to have advantages wherever u fight. I would argue the biggest advantage these days is reach and/or wrestling ability

Conor at FW is a monster....look at the size difference between him and Chad Mendes. Also look at how he looked cutting that weight to 145. Conor vs Khabib, who is making a massive weight cut to 155, is a whole different level

Tony Ferguson at 155 = Monster. Tony Ferguson at 170 = RDA Gatekeeper

Conor has plenty of energy at weigh ins.

The whole thing about McGregor benefitting from a size advantage at FW is a myth. Other than Mendes and Bridmage, his opponents were always roughly the same size as he was.

You simpletons need to start looking at ACTUAL size and weight and not at far less significant things like who's taller or who has the longer reach.

nah conor is the only fighter in the world who cuts weight, he's a pussy! did you see how MASSIVE he looked compared to guys like holloway, poirier and aldo? SO unfair.

unlike real 145 fighters like holloway and zabit, they're basically blown up flyweights, mad respect.

most FW's are gonna have a size advantage vs mendes, he's like 5'5/5'6, and mendes probably hydrates back up to what most other FW's weigh on fight night, probably more than some guys.

they all still can make the weight unlike conor

The Dagestani FW dude is also doing the same thing. Reach advantage is a great thing to have in MMA. Not a rare thing to see dudes cutting some extra weight to abuse reach advantage, he wasn't the first and sure won't be the last.

Funny thing is, Conor wanted to fight at lw. The UFC made him fight at fw. That's all they were willing to sign him for is a run at fw. He moved up as soon as he had enough star power to force the issue.

He wasn't looking like a concentration camp victim at the weigh ins for his fw fights by choice.

Mendes off TRT was. 160 vs Volk
That was documented

The hypocrisy is that Conor was making excuses that Nate Diaz is tree times the size to justify why he lost. He's talking all this shit about the shots Nate took would've made featherweights and lightweights crumble. Conor made every featherweight look like a midget then he loses and starts his tree times the size bullshit.
