Israel Adesanya opens as the betting favorite (-205) over Kelvin Gastelum

Will put money on Gas then.

Cool

Rockhold dropped the ball, a top 15 middleweight then ruined the middleweight division for years and this is what the UFC 185 division has come to.

Damn you Gegard for leaving (I know its not your fault )

How is the Gas supposed to win this fight? Does it matter if he has heavy hands if he can't land them on Israels head? IA was using good range but Silvas length was what made him able to land, and that is something the Gas is short on, literally. If the Gas can get a take down quick enough from the start, then I think that will increase his odds. However if he can't do this, then IA TKO's him eventually.

Get in quick. Surely the line on that gotta change. Bet gas

The betting will tighten up and it will probably be about -115/+110 by fight time because of the value on Kelvin right now but nobody should be surprised Adesanya opened as the favorite.

Well, if you bet Kelvin, yea the odds will change and tighten up. Some people don't understand that the odds are determined by the betting. Its the fans that determine the odds with their bets. If everyone bets Kelvin he will be favored by fight time and the last minute money will pour in on Adesanya because he will then have the value.

Sonny, sometimes you just gotta learn the hard way. I don't see how Kelvin beats Adesanya, not over 5 rounds. I once got burned betting Shogun (+120) was going to beat Jon Jones. My point here is this. Kelvin could win because its a fight, but man, 5'9" guy vs. 6'4" striking specialist. I'm not at all confident in what you are laying down here. I wouldn't bet big man, Adesanya is 16-0 and you are attempting to correctly pick the exact fight when his undefeated string snaps.

Those are good odds from the get go. No way you're gonna have those odds in a few days or even nearer the fight.. Hence bet gas now.

You will see.

I might, I've seen many fights go the other way over the years. I don't deny Kelvin could win but no way in hell I'm betting against an undefeated Adesanya who is 7" taller. You are a brave man.

I’m not a gambling man but I would take a close look at the Gas/Magny fight here.

Wow

Bet the house on Gastelum.

Can't believe he's the underdog.

Hard fight to call but don't sleep on Kelvin Gastelum.
He has a granite chin, fast hands, and great wrestling credentials.
His success in this fight will be if he manages to close the distance effectively and pressure Adesanya in the 'boxing pocket'.
I made a video-analysis (of sorts) if anyone is bored and wants to watch something about this fight.
Feel free to give me feedback too because i'm trying to get better at making these!

Who the hell has Adesanya beaten?

Any MMA fan knows the money is on Gastelum, casuals might have Adesanya.

GSP reset the MW division when he rid it of Bisping. He then vacated and let it move forward. They have proceeded to shit the bed once again.

Buddy I'm far from a casual and you know it. Sometimes its not who a guy has beaten but simply recognizing talent when you see it. Can Kelvin win, absolutely, but I wouldn't bet on it. When 23 year old Jon Jones fought Shogun Rua for the title, he was favored at -150. His best win up to that point was Stephan Bonnar or a green Ryan Bader. My point is you have to be able to see a guy like Adesanya and recognize how talented he is. This guy is a handful man, 6'4", athletic, confident, undefeated, it seems to me the writing is on the wall.

Everybody who Gastelum has fought were taller than him. I don't see why 2 extra inches of height will make such a big difference.

Adesanya has only beaten Brunson ffs. He looked extremely underwhelming over a 43 year old Silva who was coming off a 2 year lay off. Gastelum would have finished that in one round.

I just can't see it. Adesanya is unproven and Gastelum has an iron chin. The only path to victory for Adesanya in this fight is a decision.

But Gastelum probably gets inside the pocked and KO/TKO'S him. If not, well this will be a decision and it could go either way but the odds are in Gastelum's favor.

He's not a brave man, he's a smart man. There was a poll on this and I believe Gastelum was heavily favored, and for good reasons.

You are the one who's brave to bet on Adesanya.
