How long will it take until a major outlet documents the shoddy treatment of UFC athletes?

It's a pretty sad state. Top contenders are begging to be released from what is supposed to be the Mecca of MMA. People have been complaining about the horrible pay for years, including actual champions like Robert Whitaker.

If this was the case in any major sport, it'd be huge news. But for some reason the mainstream media continues to treat the UFC and Dana with kid gloves. Even when they KINDA question him, like Max Kellerman did, they then let Dana just rattle off bullshit totally unchallenged.

Revenues are 85%+ for the UFC

+ They actually prevent fighters from potential sponsors.

Yes, it's pretty damn revolting.
But never gonna change until a fighter unions is created.

(and tbh, the fans won't win anything from this)

If Bellator picks up steam and more fighters sign with them, decreasing UFC ratings/revenue, then things might change. I don't even know if a full 30 for 30 on UFC fighter pay would do much (not that ESPN would produce that...)

I'm not taking a strong position but killing the UFC monopoly will be USADA x100.

Something everyone will pretend to want, until they realize why Boxing got to where it is.

No one cares about labor relations in general, let alone in a fringe sport like MMA.

Either make a legit fighters association, or just deal with what you've built.

Labor relations only become news when theres bargaining power on both sides. Or a strike happens, and that'll never happen

bellator isnt gettign someone like conor or gsp so ufc isnt scared.

if conor went to bellator he lose so much money cause there this thing called no ppv.

but you cant compare it to other professional sports, atleast not yet....

Fact: Whittaker earned $350,000 (flat) for his unanimous decision win over Yoel Romeo at UFC 213. What wouldve been the appropriate pay for this one night including the training camps, all the expense , the risks, the lifetime collection of skills ? I agree, that its on the low side btw.

Nobody cares because the fighters don't really care.

These fighters will pop off every now and then and rarely anything ever comes from it. Many times two months later there praising the UFC.

Look at what the UFC has done in the last decade to the fighters and they can't even get together and form an association or even sign a document (keeping their name private) to even get a court to rule if they are employees or contractors. Which the later is the first thing that needs to be done to find out if you should move forward with doing union or an association.

That is why you don't see much about the treatment. The mma media has raised concerns for years and they are sick of talking about simply cause the fighters won't do anything.

Only a fighters union will break the UFC and make them pay 50% like all real sports do.

The mainstream exposure from ESPN will soon backfire and EXPOSE the UFC. Matter of time
