I’ve seen this movie before. Look at Maia, he looks like a world beater against non high level wrestlers. But you put him in with a high level wrestler and he looks desperate/shook.

There's historically Fedor, Nog, Crocop, rlReem... even among the current guys only a few wrestlers at the top.
All the other divisions exist so those guys can play along.

You make a good point. But it really stands out that he got beat 6 times by high level wrestlers, 3 in a row recently. And he looked amateurish in all 3. I love Demian Maia but the days of the BJJ specialist are over in my opinion. You need to have a balanced game.

Sonnen yes for sure, but Fitch was not in that category as far as his amateur wrestling background.

Weidman, Woodley, Covington, Munoz, Usman were all very high level collegiate wrestlers.

But Maia has amazing wrestling/takedowns for a BJJ guy, I would be blown away if Kron's wrestling is anywhere near that good.

I don’t see it as jealousy. People do get caught up in the moment fresh after fights. He’s a 1 dimensional BJJ guy, what happens when he can’t get a takedown? Pulling guard is just weak sauce and you might as well wave the white flag when you do. I’ll always root for the BJJ guy but I usually end up disappointed.
