People talk about the big four great LHW's maybe add in Forrest as a fifth. It's ignored that Thiago Silva was easily good enough to be in this group. He lost three fights to Machida, Gus and Shad was only finished by Machida. He also got two wins NC'd by the asterisk police. Has a 9-3 UFC record with 7 finishes. Better record than Forrest, better than Rampage, better record than Shogun or Hendo. Yet it's treated like this dude never existed. He was released from the UFC on a two fight win streak. Sure he was mediocre after leaving the UFC but that ain't the point cause no one knew that at the time.

He took a round from Shad at his very best. Did as well as anyone but Machida would have at the time.

No, the numbers alone don't determine how good he was. He was good, but not great. Just look at the level of competition.
...and losing against great fighters doesn't automatically make you great, otherwise Yuji Nagata would also be great.

You forgot to ad he got caught using "non human urine" to try to dodge his drug test.

He was a very dangerous opponent.
You could see the anger that dude had in his fights.

Always wanted to see him against Rampage

Just a step below elite if not the lowest of the elite. Honestly I think Silva would do some damage now a days if he was in his prime, it’s a testament to how deep LHW used to be prior to the reign of jones

In that era it does. He did better than anyone except Machida against Shad. At the time that mattered. That Gus loss also aged really well. Also if only one fighter who AS thinks was his superior finishes you that's great.

You seem unclear about what GOAT means.

If Keith Jardine is your best win your name should be nowhere any GOAT discussion

Forrest is a Hall of Famer and a champ at the division. Who here feels confident Forrest would win? What about even Rampage/Shogun?

lol at mentioning forrest.

Dude had serious hate in his heart.

Yuji Nagata had balls of steel. Cro Cop and Fedor as his only fights. The equivalent now would be DC and Stipe as some random dude's first 2 and only fights.

He bongo'd the shit of Vera.

Always a LHW GOAT contender to me... human piss or not.

I mean he won the belt and he finished Shogun back when people thought Shogun was GOAT. Also that win over Rampage was impressive AF. Can't even really accuse the UFC of setting him up for a title shot he did deserve it at the time.

One thing's for sure, he has the greatest highlight video of all time
