Being drunk, coronatrapped and the new movies honestly stinking shit I went on the old-school road and downloaded some old war movies ... Just watched the 317 Platoon by Schoendoerffer, mind blown.
It's like a mix between an american vietnam war movie and an Audiard polar. 50's french swag plus indochine war. All the greasy hollywood drama is washed up on few comitragic lines and the day-to-day stuff is excellent. A must see guys. Dien Bien Phu is on the list.

Tae Guk Gi - The Brotherhood of war is the GOAT war movie

Thanks for the movie but yeah, no. It's too cheesy for me ; the two brothers - and most of the soldiers interactions - were useless high-pitched voices drama and the actual war scenes too hollywood, feeling more like an action movie than actual a war movie.

Did watch Dien Bien Phu ... An excellent movie. A little ride on the wiki page of the battle beforehand surely enhance the experience.

It ended the Indochine war in a massive battle ... prequel from Vietnam war.

French here. A man of taste I see. Schoendoerffer is legendary. He was at Dien Bien Phu I believe.
I recommend his documentary on a US platoon in Vietnam, "The anderson platoon".

Also if you like this kind of forgotten conflict and French films, I recommend The Battle of Algiers.
Really realistic film on French counterinsurgency during Algeria war.
