isn't this discrimination? there should be an open or super heavyweight division for the athletes that would never make 265, like dan bobish. also why are there no heavier weight classes for women. personally i have no interest in women's fights. and i have been called sexist and brain dead for saying so. but if you want to be politically correct like so many claim they should also have more weight classes for women.

How many MMA fighters will be above that weight? Hell, I wouldn't mind it if there are enough...would be a fun division to watch. 266 - 320 lbs. Do it.

It is kinda discriminatory if a fighter is 7 feet tall and his skeleton alone weighs 240 pounds

The HW's gas bad enough as it is with the 265 limit.

OK Mr Hypocrite. You are against people cutting weight to fight smaller fighters, but want to see a super heavyweight where there would be even more weight advantage. Next thing you will call for the heavyweight to go from 206-215.

I like where you don't care about women's fights, but ask about them.

I pose this question to you. If you had the chance, would you let Vitor Belfort squirt Teriyaki sauce into your mouth with a super soaker?

I wish they'd take off the upper limit. Just make it unlimited.

It benefit Bigfoot and it would have been a benefit to a guy like Lesnar. Lesnar would have been stepping into the cage probably between 280 and 300.

There is a Super Heavyweight division.
UFC just doesn't have it.
UFC being a private corporation trying to sell a product, they're not demanded to give equal opportunity (that's why we used to not have smaller men weight-classes and no women at all).

i think a lot are missing the point. i don't think there should be any cutoff at heavyweight. forget super heavies just not enough fighters at that size. there used to be no weight limit for heavyweight. fedor crushed many foes bigger than him, if cain is so good he can do the same.

I actually wish the HW limit was 235 and anything over that was Super Heavy Weight.

Fedor fought in Japan where openweight fights are still allowed to this day.
Cain fights for the UFC, a promotion that abides the unified MMA rules, therefore they follow the american wegihtclasses, even when fighting outside USA.
The cutoff, was deemed necessary by the athletic commissions to avoid big weight differences. I don't think it's necessary, but if you're a SHW, there is a weight class for you, and there is promotions running divisions for it.

gotta miss the good old days. i was just making a point to all the people that think if you don't like chick fighting or flys you are an uneducated moron. i followed ufc when they didn't even have lightweights.

Maybe one day but there isn't many legitimate athletes that are bigger than 265lb that can't cut weight. Even monsters like Lesnar & Bigfoot can make 265lb but it does hinder them..Bigfoot looks a lot different at 300lb. Guys like HMC & Bob Sapp could never make 265lb. Semmy Schilt was legit competitor he would never make 265lb, maybe if he cut off his legs. A guy like Struve could bulk up a few pounds, even though his a giant he looks weak and brittle compared to most HWs.

I remembered the 265 limit didn't have safety in mind. It was something that Zuffa wanted to keep out the circus acts like sumo wrestlers and people like Butterbean.
