NHL 24/25 - Still did better than Vancouver

fuck those guys too

we need fatigue and injuries to set in

Plus we got mini Bob to be mentored (another Russian goalie from the Blue Jackets).
Sucks that E Rod is gone though. Unless Chucky has surgery and is LTIR but I don't see that happening because he wants to play in the Olympics bad.

I think I've become a full blown traitor. So far I'm more excited about Florida's off season than Detroit and I'm rooting for a third cup in a row.

Nah Lindros didn't want anything to do with playing in a smaller market.
The two trades absolutely were related because one of the picks Quebec got from Philly was used on Thibault who was traded for Roy in 95.
That is 100% not true. As someone who watched & followed Lindros when he played in Oshawa, it was common knowledge that he wanted nothing to do with Marcel Aubut. Especially after Aubut insulted Lindros' mom, not realizing she is bilingual & understood every word he said.

Devils extended Allen in an obvious cap circumvention move, now signed bottom 6 forward Connor Brown for 12m/4years. A couple of needs crossed off without giving them crippling deals. Need to figure out how to add some Top 6 wingers now...

6 years though? I don't know if they'll like that deal too much down the road. Pretty lengthy for an older vet.

Anyways, bye bye Marner. Odd man out. I'm sure you'll make the Leafs regret it, and win two or three Stanley Cups with a Conn Smythe here and there, but you were not working here. The band had to be broken up. Is what it is.
They get one more cup with him and it's a win no matter what. My guess is they went with the longer contract in order to get the cap number down to be able to fit everyone in. 3-4 years of dead cap space won't matter with the cap going up every year, or they can trade the contract to a team needing to hit the floor if necessary.

Canes give Logan Stankoven an 8 year deal (ok I guess?) at 6 million AVV (the fuck??). Look, I get wanting to get young talent locked up, but holy fuck does this make no sense to a kid who has really done nothing to earn that kind of term or dollars.

Drouin, Ehlers, Granlund, Kakko, Laine and J. Robertson?

With the cap going up, I dont think that's a bad contract. Could turn out to be great.

Even if he turns into Drouin, a mid 6 forward, that contract won't be as crippling in 2-3 years.. Let alone 6-8.

after all that, Bolduc.
From what I read, he’s a player that Montreal needs. Despite not being the biggest dude, he plays mean and that’s what they need in their top 6. Outside of Juraj, it was all finesse there. Can’t have that if you want to beat Florida. Also, with the addition of Dobson, Mailloux became expendable. Now all that’s left is to trade Matheson.

I'm not hating the trade. Dunno the player, I'll hold judgment.

I liked Mailloux, and that trade has been talked about, what feels like 2 years.. just feels anticlimactic.

Oh, I get it, and somewhat agree. But, we are talking a big IF here. He could become a Drouin, or he could become Yamamoto.

That sounds wild. I think at worse, he's a Drouin. But I'm Stank fan, ngl
I think he's going to be good, and agree that at worst he becomes a Drouin type middle six. It just takes one bad injury or even coaching change to really mess up a player.

Speaking of Drouin, I'm hoping the Avs find a way to keep him, but he'd look great in a Penguins sweater.

Thought for sure that Brandon Tanev was going to go to Toronto to play with his brother. Surprised he went to Nashville.
