Jones is champ, great fighter controversy aside.

DC should never go back to 205.

Gus just looked terrible, plus he is pretty inactive.

Smith is tough as hell, but technically he is not on the same level as above.

Jan is a great fighter, but probably not champion material.

Volkan has power, but once again probably not champion material.

Anderson has come a long way, but he will never be champ.

Santos is probably the most fun fighter to watch in this division, but he just doesn't have the wrestling or ground game that some of the others have.

Reyes is one of the few good things about this division, ready to see him against a top 5.

Latifi is a fun fighter to watch, but he just can't beat the top 5.

    Manuwa is old

    OSP is the ultimate gatekeeper

Glover is getting old, but still is strong as a bull. His ground game is among the best in the division.

    Shogun is where he is.

    Cirkunov lost some momemtum.

Krylov is back, but he got fucked up by Jan recently.

Basically most of the division is past their prime and they are just hanging on. It is a shame because it use to be the best division in the earlier days. You had Chuck, Tito, Rampage, Wanderlei, Griffin, Randy, Machida, Rashad, and Vitor. Those were the golden years of 205. They were not only great fighters, but extremely recognizable and marketable. It was just perfect in hindsight.

I mean people are taking about Johnny Walker fighting Jon Jones after Smith. I’d say the division lacks serious contenders right now.

I think that now we are passed all the Khabib-Conor and Jones bullshit, we should start talking about actual fight discussion what not.

What do you think the weakest male division is?

I'd have to say it's 205. It's been pretty thin since 2014. Jon cleared out the division and the only one who can be competitive with him when he's clean is DC. You can have blown up MW's like Weidman, Luke and Romero come up and I don't think they'll fare any better than past opponents.

    Not even close to true.

    Corey Anderson
Thiago Santos vs Jan Blachowicz winner
Dominick Reyes vs Volkan Oezdemir winner
THEN we can talk about Johnny Walker

Anyone who is saying Walker gets the next shot is obviously a nuthugger.

If MWs like Romero and Luke want to move up, this is as good a time as any.

205 has been drawn from a relatively shallow talent pool ever since it was created simply due to population demographics and the average size of a Brazilian/North American male.

Fortunately people love watching large men smash each other, so they've usually done real well when it comes to popularity.

They had to throw consecutive MWs at Jon in 2012/2013, so you can go back at least that far to find when it started to show its natural shallowness.

You can go back even further to find stuff like Forrest, a relatively ordinary fighter, winning the belt, plus a string of challengers who had weak win streaks of 2 or less, something not unheard of but generally more rare in legit deep divisions like FW, LW and WW.

We all know this. For one thing they are split between UFC and Bellator. Rumble retired and Gus stopped caring a while ago. DC is HW champ and the rest are old.

The division is not weak but it always looks like that when you have an exceptionally dominant champion.
Middle weight looked horrible during Anderson silva's reign because nobody could touch him, it's the same with Jones.
The division is not weak, it's just that Jones is that good.
The future of the division are Reyes, Rakic, and Walker.
