Jordan Chariton and his cameraman getting harassed by Pete staffers at a campaign event.

I like the insinuation that it was because he was black.

All this dancing around the fact that everyone knows why, mysteriously, Pete has no black support lol.

It's sad for him, since it seems like he would have had a strong shot in 2016.
If he made it to the general I think Joe could have beat Trump (in votes AND delegates), but I don’t think he gets past the primary.

This is kind of long, but informative and funny.
It should appeal to everybody from Bernie supporters to fans of the establishment Democrats favorite right wing propagandist, David Frum.

Short version is that the filibuster (created kind of by mistake in 1806 but not really used until a while later) used to be an occasional tactic used for very significant legislation (or controversial appointments) that the minority opposed, kind of establishing a higher bar for major changes. McConnell turned it to just the standard--nothing passes the Senate without a supermajority, which is not how it was designed. As a result, any changes at all are almost impossible, which raises the stakes for whatever gets through. There's no pressure valve anymore. We can't say, "this is a bad law and it'll be unpopular and reversed," because reversing laws has become so hard. Getting rid of it would put things back closer to where they used to be before 2009 (smaller uptick in use preceded that, actually). I wouldn't mind some kind of rule (and note that it's just a Senate rule) that didn't completely eliminate it but limited its use. You'd have to account for gaming (like a majority continually reintroducing the same bill).
They should make it like a coach’s challenge in the nfl. Win the challenge to get another one.

Going into the NH vote (per RCP):

Sanders leads in all but one poll released since Thursday (13 of 14 polls), with an average lead of about 5%. This isn't in the bag for him, but he's the strong favorite and Pete is the strong second-place choice ahead of Warren, who edges Biden.

That one poll showed Bernie take back the lead the next day.

That poll also has Tulsi Gabbard much lower in N.H than all the other polls.

Good video and also a good microcosm of the good/bad of Brooks: starting out with a couple minutes of unfunny voice impressions and then getting into really important analysis that is both ideological and practical. And, of course, pointing out the glaring hypocrisy of David Frum, who is a disaffected right-winger implicitly claiming that Bernie Sanders is not committed enough to the trans community and to left-wing social politics generally because he chooses to focus on practical universal policy programs rather than (enough) meaningless and social group-specific pandering.

Seriously, let's appreciate just how incredibly bad faith this is coming from a right-winger:
Sanders checked a box of support for the identity issue, then returned to regular programming. For Warren, the identity issue was the regular programming.
And this is despite Sanders being, as Burgess pointed out, more effective pro-trans rights in the 1980s than Elizabeth Warren had been during her pre-trans-as-a-prominent-public-issue Senate career.

He's gonna be in Hampton Beach at the Ashworth tomorrow night, unless that's cancelled too.

*edit*
nothing listed online for him tomorrow, or on Ashworth's calendar, but my folks said they're going, so i dunno

*double edit*

Brooks’ Chris Mathews impersonation is awesome.

A lot of these establishment Democrat politicians have these very impressive credentials and accomplishments. Bill Clinton and Cory Booker jump to mind. But they all turn mainstream really quick.

Meanwhile, the few real progressive politicians of the last decade or so (Bernie and Dennis Kucinich jump to mind) have more... modest accomplishments. Seems like being inside these elite institutions for too long inevitably endears you to the establishment.

Aye, where the hell you been?

The Green New Deal has AOC on the case, that alone makes it bar tender level professional.

She's a pretty cool chick.

Definitely not in any position (whatsoever) to legislate energy policy. Trust me, we aren't going to allow these people to cut the petro flow as easily as they believe. The US becoming the dominant global energy producer should've called for a significant geopolitical shakeup although we've basically seen the complete opposite with inexplicably ever closer ties to the KSA under this Administration.

I'm all for the utilization of natural resources to the country's economic and geopolitical advantage. However, with significant concurrent investment, development and implementation of a green tech transition as it becomes more technologically and logistically feasible to do on a macroscale. Things just simply aren't there yet at this stage, it's not merely a matter of greed.

Who do you guys think Sanders and Buttigieg should pick as their V.P? What makes the most sense?

For Sanders, would choosing someone who leans more moderate be a smart way to defeat Trump? Or is Sanders' health issue and the possibility of being replaced by his V.P a good reason to stay away from anyone who leans moderate?

Is there someone out there for Buttigieg to pick that would boost him even further? I guess him needing to close the gap with minority voters says which direction might be smartest.
