The UFC in 2017 had 39 Events (2 less then the 41 held in 2016)
There was a total of 457 fights ( 36 less then 2016)
There was only 20 Title Fights compared to the 22 in 2016
UFC on Fox had 4 events compared to the 5 in 2016

I have no problem with cards overseas. The UFC needs to build its brand there and frankly they can fill arenas with chump fights we get to watch for free.

Too many cards in the US though. We get diluted PPV cards at $65 a pop.

There was a time that I bought every UFC PPV back when they did 6 a year. I bought 3 this year...

I think change the RUNS THE UFC part with RUINS THE UFC.

2017 was a weird year. So many fights canceled it was insane. Champs not defending against top contenders, etc...

There were a couple of great cards that didn't fall apart, but it seemed to be the exception and not the rule.

Yeah well that's basically the same numbers for anyone who watches drunk imo.

PPV should have never been a thing in the first place, 65 a pop is never gonna sell where I'm from

It had to be a thing. Back in 1993 the UFC couldn't get anywhere near regular TV. Without PPV they couldn't build to the point where they could have large enough venues and expensive enough tickets to actually make money on gates.

They were following the WWE formula.

I assume that doesn’t include McGregor having two non-title fights with Diaz and Cormier’s against Anderson. Also McGregor vs Alvarez being Champion vs Champion.

2016 was a great year for the UFC - 2017 not so much.

And half those title fights were for a women's belt that nobody seemed to want in a division that doesn't really exist.

I feel ya but times change and I wonder how the UFC would do without PPV's
is PPV money really that big? I have a hard time believing so many people pay 65 dollar to watch a couple hours of average fights with here and there a great fight

I happen to agree but look at Meltzer's PPV numbers for some of the bigger events. GSP Bisping did 875,000 buys. That's 57 million generated for a single card...
