This was the best year for the UFC imo. In the 20 years I've been an mma fan, I've never been more excited for fights in my life. I've never hosted more ppv parties at my house. No doubt the best year for the UFC.

    Do you guys agree?

That Ronda KO put a HUGE stamp to an already exception year.

    Only because of Conor.

The last time that we had Jones, GSP and Anderson still in the sport was the best. I know Jones and Anderson still are, but they have been barely fighting since.

In that time, fighters like Cain and Pettis was also on they best. And Hendricks was having some great fights with GSP and Condit.

Lawler vs Rory 1 was also great, and the others Lawler fights he had.

And Conor had his first 2 fights.

My favorite fight was Jones vs Gus back then.

And we had a crazy HW fight that I know you all remember

Last two years, MMA surpassed NFL as my favorite sport.

probably 2008 or 2009 when penn, silva, gsp were all in their prime. 3 of the greatest of all time in their prime. also had rampage and brock lesnar debuting. lesnars debut was nuts.

I'd agree with some ppl in this thread stating that when GSP, Silva, and BJ were all in their prime was some amazing years. Like 2008-2009ish.

Also, back when Chuck, Hughes, and Franklin were all ruling their divisions coupled with everything that was happening over in pride during those days with Champions and superstars such as Wand, Rampage, both Nogs, Cro Cop, Fedor, Shogun, Hendo, and Saku just to name a few was something to behold. MMA in that time was just blossoming and for me it was wayyyyy more exciting than this WWF style UFC that we're seeing these days.

It's still fun but everyone trying to copy Conor and his trash talking is just getting lame.

Conor became champ of 2 weight classes.
    Bisping finally became champ.
    I made my UFC debut.

    This year was special.

Fights wise it's been a bonkers year and that's why we all love this shit.

Ufc politics wise it's been a shitshow though

Yes I agree there have been many great years for the UFC and many more great singular moments but I feel that 2016 had the most of everything. It had big moments, big fights, big underdog victories, even amazing cards that were over looked like UFC 206.

2016 was the best year for the UFC as far as I'm concerned.

    You're being nostalgic.

Yes it was great back when PRIDE was going strong(PRIDE is what turned me from casual to hardcore fan) but there was a lot more WWE shit going on back then with PRIDE then there is right now. You can't call present UFC wwe style fights while at the same time complementing PRIDE.

And as great as Silva, GSP were in their prime, there wasn't nearly as much buzz for them as there is right now. I live in Montreal and I stay 2 tables over from GSP at a sports bar during the Pacquiao-Clottey fight. For the whole fight not a single person went up to GSP to ask for a pic or autograph. I wanted to wait till the end of the fight to talk to GSP but he jetted with 2mins left in the last round. He wasn't even a big deal in his own city.

I feel 2016 is one of those years that we'll only appreciate half a decade from now.

The UFC was pretty exciting in 2016,although I enjoyed the era with classic fighters more.

Seriously best year in a long time. So much fun and so many awesome subs/KOs and surprising upsets/champs.

Actually, I can do whatever the fuck I want.

Prides presentation and style of pre fight hype was nothing like the UFCs currently. Every event was its own story and completely unique.

The UFCs current product is very bland, repetitive, and getting incredibly stale and boring. Also, they're getting much worse with giving title shots to completely undeserving people while the true contenders are getting fucked over for money fights. This is bad for the sport in the long run and hurts the athletes.

Not everyone is as much of a Conor fan as you.
