2016 Belarus Combat Sambo final math at 82 KG

I post this here because of the interesting striking. Despite the allowance of jacket gripping, I would have pictured this to be more like a hockey fight. Yet, they still seem to exchange hands in the boxing pocket range with no clinching or gripping.

And i just need to share that with you because it is so well done.

At my sambo class, my coach will train us in Combat and Sport depending on what the group need to focus more on that time. When its combat time he actually dedicates a lot of time to striking technique, and countering punches to get into the clinch and stuff like that.

My Muay Thai snobbery means I'd hesitate to call them good strikers, but certainly effective at what they do, getting into the clinch. I notice that a lot of those short boxing moments are being used as a distraction to go into a takedown and stuff like that. They can be decent brawlers, but due to punches not scoring in combat sambo at all, you need to work your punches as more set ups than actual fight enders.

That being said however...

Someone never told my training partner that.
