What's up guys. This is a pretty good team, I'm familiar with most of you. Can I just say though, I hate that our team is named after such a douche bag. I think just "Douche Bags" would have been OK.

Story behind my current training...

I lost about 25-lbs in the past 6 months and was pushing my training very hard. I was on the cusp of a 500-lb squat and a mid 1,300-lb total @ 165 when I hurt my hip squatting. New found scrawniness and high frequency/intensity led to what I think was an overuse injury. I continued to train on it like an idiot which was excruciating and one thing led to another, I ended up hurting my sacrum deadlifting about two weeks ago. The hip thing was compromising my form. I should be getting an X ray soon, whenever I get my new insurance card in. Not too worried because with the time off so far my hip feels 100% and the back a little better every day.

I can train upper body no problem. Getting a 45 off the floor and onto the bar is a little uncomfortable but I manage. Right now I have no official plan/program but I think I'm going to keep intensity moderate, volume high, work on bench/dips/press/btn press/chins/pull up/ring row. Chase the pump while trying to maintain strength. Going to Key West for spring break so this is sort of blessing in disguise :)

Indian clubs
laterals x 50
oh extension x 25

sledge/mace
x 10 each side

bench press (first rep paused)
225 x 5
205 x 5 x 2
185 x 5 x 2 feet up

- Brought the feet up because of pressure in sacrum. My back is feeling a little better today, like not hurting too bad when I sneeze, probably from the day off yesterday. I figured it didn't make too much sense to irritate it. Weights felt heavy. 225 was like 5RM lol

dips
50 x 10 x 3
35 x 10 x 2

sledge/mace
R x 1 minute
L x 1 minute

GHD sit ups
bw x 25 x 2

- Gonna have to start doing planks or something. These don't hurt, but I definitely feel a little something going on in sacrum.

BW 169, feeling scrawny

Yeah right goon! You just want to do Chest day every day.

Nice to see some familiar faces on this team.

Yeah I meant the name in the way that he is a douche or if you like him, you can take as we are his douche bags, either way. I do not care for him and his antics outside of the hot tail he post.

BW 169

Temperature in the garage was below freezing. This session ended up almost being a conditioning session as I had to take very little rests and keep moving in between sets.

Squats
135 lbs x 3
185 lbs x 3
225 lbs x 3
275 lbs x 3
325 lbs x 3
355 lbs x 5
375 lbs x 1 (paused)
395 lbs x 1
325 lbs x 5
275 lbs x 5
225 lbs x 5
*Total jerkoff session of randomness. All of the above took 10-15 minutes. It was hilarious how heavy 375 lbs and 395 lbs felt after no rest from the 355 lbs x 5 set. I'm just getting my legs used to some volume with reps now.

Clean and Jerk Assistance (Power Jerks)
135 lbs x 3
165 lbs x 2
185 lbs x 1
215 lbs x 1 x 8 sets
*Rest periods between singles was less than a minute

Finishers
DB front raises: 20 lbs x 12 x 2 sets
DB side raises: 20 lbs x 12 x 2 sets

I have the same problem, how do people deal with this? Is there insulation you can put on the garage door? Some other solution? I have a space heater that literally makes no difference.

Squat
3x5x20
4x70
1x90
1x100
1x110
1x120
3x5x127 PR

Was tough, very last rep was an extra grind. Focused on bracing as best as I could. My abs were completely spent afterwards.

Press
10x20
3x40
1x50
2x5x55
1x4x55

Very hard. Especially with my abs spent on squats.

Power Clean
2x3x50
2x60
5x2x70

These were pretty good.

I craiglisted for a kerosene heater. Picked up a little one and also have a table top dual infrared one on my work bench. The Kerosene heater is only a 16,000 btu but the heat is around 90 degrees. I come home and start both and normally wait about 30-40 minutes to go outside. I also use a little blow torch on my bar before lifting. Between those two, it normally takes the bite off enough to lift in somewhat comfort.

My garage is really more of a shed IMO. It doesn't have drywall or insulation. We've never parked a car in it and I don't think the previous owner did either. Anyhow, I use two space heaters but I have to make sure they are running for at least an hour before I go out. Today the temp is close to zero outside so it's probably around 20 degrees in the garage. I think the space heaters will get it up to around 30 degrees. I just layer up big time and lift quickly. It's cold enough today to where I'll probably only do one lift and the rest (assistance) indoors. 30 minutes in that is about all that I can take, but it isn't this cold most of winter.

I'll log in a second but I tied my PR in push press just then. Wasn't a great lift, kinda messy, but I got it.

January 8th, 2015

Push Press

5x45
5x65
5x95
5x105
1x135

Notes: PR tie, really shaky and probably didn't lock it out for long enough.

Sumo Deadlift

5x135
3x185
3x225
3x275
8x275
10x225

Notes: the set of 8 could fairly be called 8 singles, but I didn't let go of the bar. It was super slow between reps but the reps were super fast. Felt great, even stretched the tight muscle in my glute/ham/quad that's been giving me trouble.

275 is 80% going by my 355 conventional PR, but it felt like 60 or so sumo. This is nice because it shows that 400 should be there quite easily.
