Dbacks just have the worst pitching in baseball, I still take Goldy and friends over the Pirates I think. Pits offense was below average last year and I expect it to finish near the same

Pirates just strike out so damn much. They can hit, and have off the charts power in their lineup, but damn they strike out. Their infield is pretty shit as well besides Walker. Diamondbacks could be a lot better, but outside of GOldy they seem pretty inconsistent. Hill is up, and down this year it seems. He is still good though, and Prado is slumping as well. If they all catch fire then can be a scary lineup. Sadly, NL Central is falling back to it's old ways of StL vs. Cincy to win it.

Aren't there four teams over 500 in the al west? Most experts agree that the al west is the second best division in baseball with the nl west being the worst.

lol, only because everyone is beating up on the Lastros.

The Pirates everyday lineup looks like a minor league team outside of Clutch and Alvarez even Marte looks bad this season. They have three huge holes in their lineup, SS, RF, and 1B. They went out and acquired Morneau and Byrd before the trade deadline last season it made them look some what decent when the truth is the team was built on pitching and defense.

Rangers having a series with the Astros ccouldnt have came at a better time

fosters little league team would smoke the lastros

Samardzija has out pitched everybody this year... Yet if he plays in Chicago all season he'll likely end up with less than 10 wins.

This is true, their hitters outside of Cutch are pretty streaky. But the main problem for them so far has been their starters as well, outside of Cole theyve been bad. Liriano, Volquez and Wandy have all regressed from last year, Burnett is gone, Locke turned into a can and Taillon had TJ so theyre stuck with them unless they pick it up.

Dr. James Andrews was on Sirius/XM radio’s “Power Alley” with Mike Ferrin and Jim Duquette yesterday, talking about Tommy John surgery. He was asked why there seem to be so many guys needing TJ surgery these days.

His answer: it’s not an anomaly, it’s a trend. And an alarming one, he says, in that so many more of the surgeries he’s performing are for high school pitchers as opposed to professionals with a few years under their belt. Kids are bigger and stronger these days, and their ability to throw harder is outpacing the development of their ulnar collateral ligaments.

But the biggest risk factor he and his researchers are seeing: year-round baseball. The fact that not only do pitchers throw year-round, but that they are pitching in competition year-round, and don’t have time to recover. Also: young players are playing in more than one league, where pitch count and innings rules aren’t coordinated. Another factor: the radar gun. Young pitchers who throw over 85 or so are at risk, and all of them who are on a major league track are throwing that fast or faster, and are going up in effort when scouts with guns are around.

Ultimately, you can’t prevent these injuries. Even for the major leaguers, most of whom were damaged in high school only to have the UCL injuries happen once they’ve hit the pros.

Crush Davis seems out of it. Hardly the same guy from the last season.

Fuckin Wright is a star, plays in NY, and yet even the announcers are like "he's got 900 RBI's? really?"

3 errors and 4 runs charged to Cody Asche and it's only the 7th inning.

Murph Dog with an absolute BOMB
