Just thought I would make a thread where all us grappling geeks could share our goals for the upcoming year.

I've got three:
*Win a match at Worlds
*Win a NAGA Advanced division
*Not miss more than two weeks total of training

Pretty doable but hard enough to push myself.

Do any of you remember your 2012 goals? Did you achieve them? I got two out of three last year, I got my purple belt and competed in 8 tournaments (goal was six). I was on my way to making it to the not miss more than two weeks total of training, then I ended up missing three and a half weeks in december alone.

My goal is to win a match at blue. I've got around 25 tournaments in the nearby (driveing) area to do it at this year, and a bunch of them are round robins. If I end up going 0-30 or whatever, I'll just give up on bjj and start doing aikido instead.

My goal is to get back down to featherweight. I'm about 170 PDs without the GI on right now and am determined to get back to my normal weight class.

* Bulk up to 175/medio (158 right now).

* Win Miami Open at Blue Weight/ Open

* Win No-Gi Worlds at Blue

*miss no more than 10 days in the year

* 10,000 reps/ 2 techs. a month

25? Damn. I did 13 in one year and that was rough. And I'd take up crossfit/bikram before Aikido. Hot bitches in spandex, great hobbies.

I'm like 160 after my lazy December, so I totally feel you. Losing weight sucks balls though, especially when your girl doesn't follow a diet with you.

Why you bulking up? Thats the opposite direction of most people. Medio a better fit? And damn, those are some hefty goals. How do you plan on breaking down 10,000 reps throughout the month?

I did 11 last year, but most of that was spent at white. I don't think I'd actually take up aikido, I would probably just get depressed and stop training at all.

I'd rather just win a match though.

I've got some goals that are not specific to BJJ, but will impact it. Then I have specific BJJ goals.

1. Over 300 hours mat time in BJJ. Over 100 in judo.

2. 5 tournaments and one major tournament (IBJJF).

3. Purple belt.

4. Visible abs.

Yeah i'm 6'1" 158, so gaining the 17 to get to 175 will better fit my lanky frame and help me in the open weight division against the 220-230 guys.

I was think starting off with 125 reps the first 5 days. Then double after that once i get the motion down then another 5 days i go to 500 a day for the rest of the month.

I'm only 19 so why not shoot for the Gold.

Enter first tournament.

Medal at a tournament.

Train 4 times a week and work towards my blue belt.

Gain more weight. So I can actually be the weight of my weight-class, not under.

Fight the Europeans, Pans, Abu Dhabi Pro, Worlds, London International, Rome International, Euros No-Gi at a minimum.

Do a second competition tour of America.

Win two fights in my division between Euros, Pans and Worlds. Medal at multiple other tournaments.

Submit people.

Rank 30th in the world or higher at some point during the year.

Get invited to the next Black Belt League. Go. Fight the Long Beach Open as well, presuming they're combined again.

Be awesome.

- Win a match at blue belt, like mr violent I have about 25 tournaments and I hope him and I can start closing out our division.

- Do a lot more no gi

-Get down the the Worlds Masters and Seniors

-keep building up my school

-make it down to the pan ams and no gi worlds which i missed in the last two years.

-at the very least medal, but hopefully get the gold, at the us open. it will be my tenth us open in a row, and if i medal i will have medalled at all of them.

-stay injury free

Get my blue belt.

Really stop worrying about tapping out in training. I give it lip service, but still struggle to do it.

Compete in a tournament where I don't care about the results, play safe, or rely on physical attributes. Just go in looking to do some sweet jiu jitsu and see what happens.

Stay injury free. Move more to the "keep it playful" movement, which is tough as everyone I roll with is basically 200 pound plus brutes. I give up 40- 80 pounds to most of them. X-rays on ribs and neck this year.

Continue tapping out said brutes. (hence the need for goal #2).

I haven't really sat down and thought about it, but since I dont really drink or party I figured I could think about it. This is what I came up with

1. Get my purple belt

2. Train in the GI alot more to catch up my game in it [I train alot of NOGI cause of MMA]

3. Fight 3 to 4 times this year

Drop my BF% a bit and add some muscle trying to get to about 165 (I am already in pretty good shape)
Win at least 1 No Gi Advanced Division
Win 1 IBJJF Open at Purple
Compete at Worlds again
Become a Pro MMA fighter by the end of 2013, my first amateur fight is January 26th (Most important goal to me)

Crush my enemies.

Hear the lamentations of their women.

Bench teh 275.

(Sorry, I have no real goals. I just wanted to be a part of the thread. I think your guys goals are really awesome, though, and wish you all much luck.)

Don't injure my knees.

Be preemptive with grips.

Be more about subs and less about position.

Develop a scary butterfly guard that can be used when my opponents standing.

Do a combat wrestling or Catch wrestling competition

Practice more sambo

Be ready for an MMA fight by 2014.

Medal at a national competition (Hopefully gold).

Blue belt.

Do more striking, not really a grappling goal I know, but it's something I've been putting off for long enough.
