2013-2014 Kansas City Chiefs official thread: Nowhere to go but up!

So ready for the season to start. Let's go.

A lot more good than bad this game. I'm probably too tired and effected by alcohol and pizza to write a coherent synopsis, but...

1st team defense thoughts:

-DJ is back. He made multiple stops and was in the backfield all night. He had one play where he was the backside LB on a zone run and made the guard completely whiff, while getting in on the tackle(Allen Bailey was there first) for little-to-no gain or TFL
-Justin Houston had a couple pressures.
-Dee Ford takes horrible angles to the ball carrier, whether that be pursuing the QB, or on a run play. In passing situations, his speed rush is insane; that's his only weapon as of now, though. He can't change direction for shit (tight hips/uncoordinated...call it what you will)
-Marcus Peters baits receivers a lot, but has insane speed in and out of breaks
-Jaye Howard is going to do well filling in for Poe
-Mike Catapano had a good game. He was the NT in passing situations and the starting NT for the 2nd team.
-Ron Parker didn't let Graham get any YAC after his two catches (and the coverage was very, very good), but obviously Seattle wasn't rolling out their regular season playbook.

1st team offense:

-Alex Smith threw a bad pick six, but made a few throws in tight windows to Jason Avant and Jeremy Maclin, and hit Travis Kelce in stride for a 22 yard-ish gain.
-Jamaal Charles only had a few touches. Looked like JC
-Travis Kelce had a catch for 22 and made a few good blocks (that the telecast highlighted)
-Jeremy Maclin had a decent game. 3 for 22 and a TD. Dropped a pass in the endzone, but made up for it the next play...by catching a touchdown

-the line play was bad: having both your tackles out hurts, but starting Laurent Duvernay-Tardif at RG and Paul Fanaika at RT is an embarrassment.
-Knile Davis did have a good game this week. He showed good footwork and broke/evaded multiple tackles. He is a very stiff runner with tight hips (he kind of moves like tank control RE...I digress); anyhoo, he had a good game.
-Chris Conley is MIA besides making a bonehead decision on a punt.
-Albert Wilson also MIA
