Awsome, Im looking forward to atleast watching it. I have never competed in Sambo.. Just out of curiosity how will the divisions be divided up since sambo does not have a belt ranking system? Is it like a no gi tournamnet done by experience (0-6mos)(6-mos-3 yrs) etc?

    Thanks

No. Much more like wrestling. Everyone in the same pot (except weight and age divisions).

However, we do have an A and B division. A division is for coach level guys, guys who run their own teams, past tournament gold medalists, and people who wish to fight up (and anyone we determine to be of A level quality). B division is for everyone else.

Due to some unforseen circumstances, we needed to change our event location. It actually worked out very well and we have secured a great new facility for our event. Please make note that the event WILL NOT be held at the Central Texas Performing Arts Center. We will now be hosting our event at the Austin Sports Center(Cedar Park).

New Hotel information will be coming soon.

Steve i will most likely be there. Any chance we could meet up? I live in Dallas but will be making the trip. Unfortunately I cannot participate, which i was planning on doing, because i tore my UCL in my left elbow and still recovering. I hope to at least go to watch my first Sambo competition! I was even planning on buying a kirtka (spelling?) to compete haha. PM me if this is possible. I will also be bringing my buddy who is fluent in russian and lived in moscow for 8 years.

Yes, but take into account that we don't have all the various experience divisions that other events have. But, I too wish it was more popular...it is getting there. For example, this was our first event outside of the NJ/NJ area and it went very well. Brought people from 5 states. I am pleased.
